Temptation: Chinese Food

This is a restaurant if you going to Ipswich shopping, but get there early by mid day as it is a very busy Restaurant.It is excellent value for money too,if you go for the lunchtime Buffet it is £6.99Adults £4:50 Children (as of 16may 10) as much as you can eat.And a wide variety of dishes to choose from.A word of advice this is a very popular restaurant so if your going lunchtime get there at 12 noon and if your going in the evening book in advance. Update: 16th May 2010, Things have gone a bit downhill,although we still visit ,prices have gone up and the standard of the selection has gone down score out of 10 at this present time would have to say 5,previously would have scored 9Telephone numbers below. Service is still good Sadly it has now Closed Down as of December 2011. No particular dish.

"Ferry Boat Inn": Good Food

There is a wide range on the menu available, the Ambiance is nice and cosy with tables out side.We were very surprised with how quick the service was, within 20minutes of ordering it was on the table.Well cooked although a little on the expensive side @ £7.95,but then prices have gone up recently.The inn dates back to the 15th century, and the attractive main bar has a splendidly traditional look with a polished flagstone floor, beams, handsome wood paneling, a wood-burning stove and sturdy country furniture.The surroundings are idyllic with views across the Deben Estuary to Bawdsey. My favorite dish was the Roast lamb with all the trimmings,and was very nicely cooked.

Golden Galleon: Fish and Chips

You may think I am mad mentioning a fish and chip shop,but wait!, if you go to Aldeburgh there are two fish and chip shops,don't be fooled they are owned by the same people and are very popular so be prepared to wait as sometimes there are queues along the pavement.Once tried never forgotten ive traveled all over the U.K. and these will be very hard to beat.then get in your car and drive through the town South and you will drive through a gravel road up onto the sea wall with views of the north sea.Watch out for the Sea gulls if you throw a chip out of the window you will get mugged. Large Haddock and Chips,I go at least once a week.( lovely buuh)

Magpie Inn: Great Fish & Chips!

On a short weekend visit to Suffolk, we were looking for somewhere to stop for lunch when we came across the Magpie Inn, in the village of Little Stonham. You can't miss this place - just before you arrive at the pub you will see a large metal magpie suspended over the road. So when you see this, slow up and pull into the car park.This is a traditional looking, cosy pub, with a small bar area and a larger eating area which is non-smoking, making it the perfect place for a mid-trip lunch break if you ask me! We both had the Haddock & Chips and it was delicious....particularly the chips!!Alex tried a half pint of the local brew, Adnams, while I stuck to a half pint of Carlsberg.

Little Chef Saxmundham: feeding the kids

Travelling with children means you have to stop regularly to feed them, and they always want the easiest meals. We tried hard to find somewhere when they felt hungry, so ended up stopping at Little Chef in Saxmundham.It was nothing special though the waitress was pleasant and service was as fast as could be expected with only two waitresses serving several families. There were books and things to play with so the kids didn't get bored. We ordered two drinks and the children ordered Spaghetti Bolognaise [ 2.79], and Jumbo Fish Fingers [2.79]. My daughter and I shared a Vegetable Panini [4.19] . The kids then shared a Blossom Pancake [2.99].I would not say the food was anything special, but we didn't expect it to be, but it was convenient and better than junk food usually is..

Café Clare: Café Clare, in the town of Clare

Café Clare is in the lovely village of Clare. It is located in the 16th century Clare Moot House, which used to be a town meeting place back in the day. This fabulous old building houses the friendly and modern café.The café is open throughout the week from 10am - 5pm. Their elevenses sounds particularly intriguing - some Seed cake and a glass of Madeira - very civilised! We stopped by for morning tea after paying a visit to the town's interesting church. We both had some tea and couldn't resist some cake - Alex had the Berry cheesecake and I had a giant slice of chocolate cake - so big I couldn't finish it all - I swear! ; )

The Golden Galleon: fresh fish

We decided to eat fish and chips on the day we visited Aldeburgh, figured a seaside place with a fishing tradition would be a good place to do that. The weather was lovely and warm so we decided to buy our fish and chips and eat them on the beach. It was a very good decision. We went to the Golden Galleon on the main street of Aldeburgh and then cross over the srteet and there we were on the sea front. The service was good and the fish and chips freshly fried and piping hot. They were not at all greasy and very tasty. There is just nothing to beat eating them out of the paper on the beach. Later while we were exploring the place we saw a long line waiting to be served - it tailed off along the road! It showed us that the shop was very popular with the locals as well. Next door to the fish shop is a restaurant if you do not fancy eating with your fingers or if the weather is less friendly...

Mizu noodle bar: Noodles galore

With long benches and a trendy feel this a a very different kind of Chinese, with nothing else like it in Ipswich. On the main square of the town centre this restaurant is joined to the Golden Lion hotel. With hundred's of different dishes and very reasonably priced you can go wrong. Set on two levels it can get very busy but you can normally get a table if you wait a few minutes. The service is good and you get your food very quickly.Opening times: Mon/Tue/Wed :12:00 - 22:00 Thur/Fri/Sat : 12:00 - 23:00 Sunday : 12:00 - 22:00 Beef in black bean sauce, Chilli noodles, Satay chicken.....the list can go on and on

Rushbrooke Arms: Not Quite a Traditional Pub

It was about 12:30 and we were nearing Bury St. Edmunds when we spotted this fine looking establishment beside the road. Once we entered, we found that there was a very large eating area to the right full of families with their children while to the left was a much smaller pub-like room with hardly anyone in it. We decided to go for the quieter atmosphere. We had not been seated long before one of the bartenders came over and gave us the score on how to go about ordering food and drink - the food had to be ordered at a counter in the big room and the drinks at the bar. We were most appreciative of his help because we were still new to this pub game! Neither of us were very hungry because of our late breakfast in Great Tey, Essex that morning. Consequently, we both had the tomato soup of the day with a bun. I washed it down with a pint of Moreland Old Speckled Hen Fine Ale while Sue had...
