Weybridge Things to Do

  • Mercedes-Benz World

This is an interesting location to pay a visit to - there are many activities related to driving available. There are a wide range of driving experiences and of course you can even buy a car here too.

  • London Bus Museum

Cobham Hall is the new(ish) home of the London Bus Preservation Trust. It is dedicated to the history of London Buses and the London Bus Service. This is a museum which houses many years of preservation work.

  • The Brooklands Concorde

It seems that this is one of the few remaining Concorde in the UK. This is quite important, especially as about 30% of each Concorde's frame superstructure was made on site here at Brooklands. There is an additional fee of £4.00 charged to be given a talk and a tour of the aircraft itself. I have to say that I have never been a great fan of this...

  • Brooklands Museum

The museum is open all year, apart from a few days annually around about Christmas. There are summer and winter opening hours - nothing difficult to follow; in the summer they open from 10.00 through until 17.00 and then in the winter they open from 10.00 until 16.00.The museum has am extensive collection of exhibits dealing with aviation, motoring...

  • A small literary pilgrimage.

If you have read my other tips on Weybridge, you will know that I had followed a "trail" from St. James Church and the grave of the one time Duchess of York, to the memorial to her situated on the aptly named Monument Green. I was wandering about, trying to take a photo in the failing light when I was approached by a friendly elderly gentleman out...

  • A monument with a history.

If you have read my other tips on Weybridge, you will have seen that I visited the parish Church of St. James and the grave site of the delightfully named Frederica Charlotta Ulrica Catherina, one time Duchess of York and local benefactress, departed this life in 1820 at the nearby Oatlands Park.I had been told that there was a monument to her,...

1907 Restaurant, Bar and Grill: Brooklands Dining

by gordonilla Written Oct 3, 2015

Staying in the hotel somewhat limits where you can eat. There is nothing very much nearby, thus eating in the 1907 makes sense. The staff were young and busy; I had made a reservation and sadly they had lost it. I did get a table within a few minutes.

The restaurant was warm and bright. The staff did seem to change from course to course.

They do offer dining for large groups as well as small numbers of residents.

Favorite Dish: I enjoyed the burger. The fries were not so good. The coffee was hot and string.

    Brooklands Community Park.

by Pod Written Sep 18, 2013

The park provides residents and other visitors with 60-acres of stunning country park and a riverside walkway. It is part of an agreement between the Council and |Mercedes-Benz World who are located just next to Brooklands Community Park.

The Park is situated within the historic Brooklands site, the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation. There are sections of the former Brooklands motor racing circuit located adjacent to and accessible from the Park. Heritage boards are currently being developed for display to give further information on the history and layout of the area.

Improved riverside access and landscaping of the river Wey, footpaths and cycle ways make the Community Park an ideal location for informal recreation. Seating, picnic benches, a play area, skateboard park, BMX track and multi-court play area suitable for 5-aside football and basketball are all provided. Open grassland, existing vegetation and additional planting all add to the nature conservation potential and interest of the site.

The Community Park opens up this important location to give broad expansive views of the Brooklands circuit and the former aerodrome runway as not seen for a number of years. Take in the stunning views of this new Community Park steeped in heritage by visiting Wellington Way/Sopwith Drive (off Brooklands Road B374 or Byfleet Road A245), Weybridge.

The full address of the park is Brooklands Community Park, Sopwith Drive, Weybridge KT13 0YU. |Brooklands Community Park location map and directions to get there.
