The metrocentre is a large shopping and recreation centre in Gateshead, It is worth visiting but be prepared to be there for a few hours. If you have children they might enjoy a trip to metroland within the centre which is an indoor amusement park with many rides.
Newcastle i thought was one great place to shop! possibly the only place i did any shopping to speak of... its cheaper than most places i visited. I went to this place called the `Metrocentre' - huge shopping mall/ area with lots of malls... Its supposed to be Europe's largest shopping and leisure centre. Most of the major department stores and labels you can think of are there and there are also theme areas, restaurants and cinemas.
Someone told me that tourists from Scandinivia often take trips across the north sea to Newcastle just to shop!
One important thing--- parking is free!
Enormous shopping Mall housing a variety of high street giants plus smaller specialist retailers and some classy boutiques.
The Metro Centre also has a 'Mediterrenean Village' which consists of a replica street lined with tavernas and restaurants, as well as a 'Roman Forum' which houses antique shops.
Also within The Metro Centre is a small 'Theme park', basically there to entertain the kids, most adults would soon tire of it.
If this wasn't enough there's a 10-pin bowling alley and a multiplex cinema, as well as a plethora of bars, cafes and restaurants.
Around The Metro Centre is another sprawling retail park which includes a Toys R Us and an Ikea, as well as a Marriott Hotel (with themed rooms!) and a Harry Ramsdens Fish & Chip Restarant.
Allow plenty of time when visiting The Metro Centre. And bring your plastic!
This is one of the biggest shopping centres in europe with tons and tons of shops and places to eat also lots of entertainment. If you get bored of shopping then there is plenty of other things you can do. Why not have a game of laser quaser which is great fun or why don't you have a game at megaball or watch a movie at the multi-screen UCI cinema! If thats not entertaining enough for you then there is the indoor theme park! with a rollercoaster and waltzer being popular attractions it also includes a pirate ship, train ride ,swings and many more attractions including a massive 'play area' for kids know as monty zoomers.
It's a HUGE shoppingcentre with, I don't know, 100s of shops. Heaven for shoppingholics! But there's also a theme park, cinemas, bowling, laser games etc.
