The Roebuck, Smith Street, Warwick by andywing Warwick isn't a big city and its nightlife reflects this. If you need loud music, bright lights and late nights then get a taxi into Leamington for about four pounds. Warwick has plenty of good pubs though, try: The Tilted Wig in Market Place (good food) The big arches at the front, now windows, were all open many years ago when the building was a meat market known as the Shambles The Zetland Arms in Church Street (lovely garden and food) Rose & Crown in Market Place (a little pricey but worth it) Thomas Lloyd in Market Place (open until 12) A good place for lunch if you're on a budget The Roebuck in Smith Street (see picture) The New Bowling Green in St Nicholas Church Street (lovely big garden for the summer) And loads more worthy of mention. Tourists should note though, last orders in English pubs are 11pm (10:30 Sundays), its the law. Leave a Comment

Pub in Warwick by barryg23 While Warwick was not lacking historical sights, pubs and restaurants were in short supply. This pub seemed to be the only nightlife-spot in the town. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: Market PlaceDirections: Two streets away from High Street

If you want traditional, cosy english pubs then Warwick is great (see my other tips for individual reviews.) Don't expect much in the form of a "clubby" nightlife and fun pubs though. For this you need to go to Leamington Spa which is only a few miles from Warwick town centre (probably a £5 taxi ride away. Head to "The Parade", start at the bottom of the hill and work your way up. A local pub with roots in Warwick since circa 1600. The building has been used for many purposes over the year including a Poor House. in 1857 Thomas Davis a millwright set up a beerhouse for his waiting guests, and the building has been licensed since 1880. I have been contracting in Warwick for 6 months, and the Millwright Arms has to be one of the best pubs i have visited for a long time. They always have 4 or 5 Real Ales which are beautifully kept. The atmosphere is always warm and inviting and the locals are very friendly. by grayfo Merchants is fast gaining a cult status as a stylish venue. The bar derives its name from the history of Warwick, and this theme runs through the classy venue with some stunning murals of the local castle. For those who their wine, Merchants boasts one of the largest selections in the area. It is as wide ranging as it is extensive with something for every palate. Cocktails are ‘made to measure’ meaning the list is infinite as tenders mix up what customers fancy, rather than what they read in a book. There is live music on Fridays, Cocktail School with ‘Hire-a-Tim’, and fun wine tasting with ‘The Aficionados’. Monday to Saturday: 12 pm to late, email mail@merchantswarwick.co.uk Leave a Comment

a pint of best bitter, please by yooperprof Amicable and centrally located, this pub is a place where I've spent a good deal of time over the years with my friend Thomas. Sometimes we're joined by his wife, but more often than not it's just the two us conducting our ongoing symposium on Anglo-American literature, great black-and-white films from the 1930s and 40s, existential philosophy, the beauty and merit of a good pint of bitter.
