Birmingham has the sixth-busiest airport in the United Kingdom, Birmingham International and is located 7 miles east of the city. The airport has two terminals, the main terminal (Terminal 1) and the Eurohub (Terminal 2).
The terminals are joined by a common walkway and provide flights to other parts of the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. The check-in and arrivals areas are on the ground floor with departures on the first floor.

A medium-sized airport, I' say. Smaller than Stansted or Manchester, definitely larger than Coventry or Cardiff. Its rather small size makes it easy to navigate around the airport.
There are two terminals but they are under the same roof and it only takes a couple of minutes to walk from the one to the other.
If you are leaving from Terminal 2 (mainly BA flights I think), bear in mind that this is the smaller of the two terminals, and there are only a handful of shops once you've passed security.
There is a monorail linking the railway station/NEC with the airport. Trains to Birmingham are quite frequent.

Birmingham airport is not huge, although it does have two terminals. As these are actually next door to each other, you won't have to walk far!
There are good connections to lots of places in Europe (including with budget carriers) and elsewhere.
Directions and signage are good, and there are enough places to eat/sit/drink/shop.
There are wudu facilities (and a prayer room) in Terminal 2.
If you are travelling at very busy times (e.g. the UK school holidays) you may find check-in and security have longish queues, as Birmingham is a popular departure point for many UK package holiday operators.
Transport links to Birmingham, and for onward travel, are good and there is plenty of parking (best booked online in advance for cheapest prices). The airport website has details.

From our house, we took a train to Birmingham International. We arrived at the airport about three hours before our plane was scheduled to leave. There were two trains that went direct to Birmingham International and given the unreliability of the English train system these days, we took the first available. So, while we were waiting, we hung out in the departure section of the Birmingham airport and drank a cup of coffee. We flew Ryan Air (like Southwest in the US - no frills) and it actually left on time.

In the latest government review of airport needs, Birmingham Airport's application for a 2nd runway has been indicated as being favoured by the government. That does not mean that the Airport has had it's planning application approved.
The Airport is next door to Birmingham International Railway Station with a free SkyTrain rapid transport people mover between the terminal buildings and the station. Trains to the City and Coventry taking 10 minutes and Wolverhampton 30 minutes. There is a train to Birmingham every 5 to 7 minutes on weekdays.
Virgin Trains are campaigning to have the station renamed Birmingham Airport Railway Station.
There are also quite a lot of local bus services direct from both the airport and the railway station.

Duo has many straight connections to B'ham, couple of them being Helsinki, Berlin, Stockholm and Vienna. At least from Helsinki the price was less than 50% compared to the other alternatives. Everything worked out really well, the service was really good, the food in the plane amongst the best ones ever (at least the other direction). In my flights, there were only 10 passengers so let's hope that the company don't go bankcrupt. Good work though!

Get to Birmingham with ease. Fly into BHX (Birmingham International Airport) and then catch the train from the airports own station directly into the heart of the city. The airport is also located next to the M42 motorway, should you wish to drive when you get here.

The best way to get from the airport to the city centre is by train. It will cost about £3 (5euro) and take 15mins. Arrival will be at New Street Station

We went there by car. Very comformtable and fast. From holland on the boat to Dover. Then the motorway to London and Birmingham.
Parking is awkward, but after 19.00 its free.
Traffic can be busy, but most of the times you can drive normally. Be aware of the speedcontrol!
