The Rep

The Birmingham Rep (short for Repertory Theatre) is one of the largest theatres in town.

They have two auditoria: the main stage, and the Door which is a studio theatre that is used for smaller productions.

Midlands Art Centre: Arthouse Cinema and Local Theatre

The Midland Arts Centre

The Midlands Art Centre (or MAC as it's known locally) has a small cinema which shows films that are often overlooked by bigger, Multiplex cinemas. It also has a number of stage productions, both amateur and professional put on on it's indoor and outdoor stages. Furthermore, it has a bar and a cafe. When I was a kid, I used to go to classes there. I'm fairly sure they still run them... everything from Judo to Music and Pottery.

King and I: Alexandra Theatre

December 2000 We went to a very enjoyable performance of the King and I on Boxing Day. This is a late 19th century buiiding and a commercial theatre so the prices can sometimes be a bit high for Birmingham's theatres (£15 to £25 for the Grand Circle). Try to get seats in the Stalls or Dress Circle the Grand Circle is very high up in the theatre and very steeply raked -be warned, if you suffer from vertigo.

Dress Code: Nothing special

There is so much to do in Birmingham even at night. There is pbviously Birmingham University and so there are alot of clubs open and pubs. However there are also many beautiful theaters where you can see some lovely performances ranging from dancing to acting!
It has absolutely everything!

Dress Code: Usual casual but still a bit dressy!
