Salisbury Nightlife

This pub has one great feature : a beer garden with a view over to the Cathedral. A very plesent beer garden it is to.

The pub itself is a reasonable place, a bit of a rabbit warren, but with plenty of low beamed rooms in that authentic English pub look. The beer is not the greatest, and food was only average - but who's complaining witha pint a very cold lager in the garden, and a quinessentially english view - it also makes you misty eyed for an England that has look since past into the history books.

Be very wary of this dive of a nightclub,overpriced,poor service half empty even on a Saturday night and from personal experience extremely violent doormen who seems have'nt ever been on a restraint course.And get away with giving seriously life threatning beatings to very drunk (albeit mouthy)individuals.On what is now common place and police turn a blind eye.If you pay the tenner (London prices) to get in good luck and welcome to chav heaven.

Do not flex your tenner to get into this excuse for a club, you'll regret it. Clientele are irritatingly arrogant considering their fake Burberry wardrobes. Pricey, pointless. Go to the NN Bar on Catherine St - the lesser of two evils - or the basement of Moloko Bar, Fisherton St. Always dress up for a night out in Salisbury - doormen are good as gold (mostly) but strict. First thing to remember if you're clubbing in Salisbury - Bournemouth's only half an hour away!

Dress Code: Strict - even for the rubbish clubs.

On the outskirts of Salisbury next to football grounds is the Laverstock social club. It’s at 23 Church Road, Laverstock down a small drive which leads to a car park which is also used by the sports club. All though out the week in the evenings people come here to meet with friends, it’s seen a lot of redevelopment but it looks a lot nicer then it used to.

There’s two bars & two function rooms which are used for discos & parties. There’s also a fruit machine & snooker tables in the back rooms, although the snooker rooms tend to get a bit smoky. They have the meat draw on Friday evenings, although the man who speaks into the mike can rattle your eardrums a little, here you can put your name down to win the next joint or steak. The club also has changing rooms and toilets for its members.

Dress Code: There used to be a music box on the wall, but I haven’t seen it lately. The drinks are a lot cheaper then you would find in the pubs, gets quite busy through. Membership is £12 but each member who brings a guest can pay £1 for them to get in & they have to put their signature in a book, used to be 50p for non-members! There’s access for wheelchairs, you can also see a lot of families like to gather here.

They also have Burns Night here where everything was Scottish.

There’s a good view across the countryside from the social club, it can get a bit cold in the draft, a cycle path which was opened in 2003 runs along to the social club. The taxi service is good from Salisbury; Value Cars is the best firm.

The closing hours are at 12am.

The Chicargo Rock is situated in Fisherton Street, and is very entertaining for live tribute bands. There are two bars and a resturant to choose from, and a dance floor with disco everynight. last week was an eighties tribute band who did Eurymics, Madness and Cher. It can be a bit packed on Sayurday and Friday nights, but is a good place to meet people. On certain nights they have promototions on thire drinks, sometimes having free samples. Some of the cocktails have odd names, like furry !"£$%, there are original platanum discs on the walls including signed pictures.

The Chapel is based in Milford Street and has been awarded the prestigious 'BEDA UK Nightclub Of The Year Award 2000' (what ever that is). There are live acts, guest DJ's, theme nights and much more. There have been a few celebrity appearences, entertainment is usually every night.

Dress Code: No jeans or trainers.

Having been directed to the previous defamatory comments about the Chapel Nightclub(One-off posts by disgruntled individuals) I felt it only fair to redress the negative bias.

I am the Entertainments & Promotions Manager at the Chapel and I can assure readers that whatever motivated the previous postings, it has no basis in reality.

The club reaches 1200+ capacity most Saturdays and a look around the weekly club photo Galleries on the website will give an indication of the levels of customer quality and enjoyment.

As for Door Staff training, not only are all SIA registerd but we are an official training center to whom many in the area turn for their security and First Aid training. I cannot imagine what initiated the previous statements but it is most certainly not the experience enjoyed by 2,000+ people each week or they would not keep coming back.

Full entry (For 3 Rooms of music and a light/music system unrivalled in the area) is indeed £10 on a Saturday. It is £8 on Friday, £5 on Thursday (Ladies £3) and £3 on Wednesday.

Offers for groups, Birthdays, Hen/Stag/ over 40`s, NUS/NHS and visitors from outlying areas are available and visiting `tourists` are offered reduced entry prices. These apply before 11.30pm when discounts end.

Prior arrangement to be `on the guest list` is advised by telephone or e-mail.

We take pride in having a high standard of staff and services to compliment the facility and services we offer and are offended by the unsubstantiated accusations that are allowed to be shown on this public site.

In our 10th year of trading and having also acquired the Moloko Bar in Bridge Street, we are a respected member Licensed Trade in Salisbury. The vast majority of Licensed premises in Salisbury work hard to maintain the standards that enable people to enjoy the nightlife as well as the Historic aspects of the City and I can only invite you to investigate the reality for yourselves.

Thankfully Tony you seem to be a world away from the apemen you employ on the front door.Having witnessed a savage attack on a lone white male who although the worse from wear could've been sent on his way or dealt with by the police.
OUTSIDE the Chapel your employees thought the best way to deal with this man was to give him a thorough kicking and when floored from the flurry of punches kicked him and topped it of with a couple of head stamps and a good hard kick which helped to dislocate his shoulder.
So proffesional and restrained i expect Salisburys so proud of them.........................
