    Salisbury cathedral July 2005

The Salisbury cathedral, with its 127 meter spire is the tallest church in England. The cathedral also hosts one of the four copies of the English Magna Carta, which is also well worth seeing.

    Salisbury cathedral

If you look around the outside of the cathedral, the architecture is very impressive and is a good example of Gothic architecture.

    Salisbury Cathedral

Of course no one would go to Salisbury on holiday and not see the cathedral. I've written more in my travelogue in the Salisbury travel pages.

    Salisbury Cathedral High Alter

The interior of the Cathedral is quite remarkable. The photo is of the High Alter on the east end of the Cathedral showing the stainglass windows.

    The Old Mill

We enjoyed walking around the little village, there were so few people around -- I don't know where everyone was.

Really big stones placed in a circle by people who theorectically did not have the math to place them as they did or the resources to move the huge stones hundreds of miles.

One of the buildings by Salisbury Cathedral. Be sure to check out the sundial placed on the house in 1749. It has a verse from the bible on the bottom of the dial.

The first cathedral to be built in Old Sarum. It was built in the 1100's but lost its congregation when a new cathedral was built in New Sarum, now known as Salisbury.
