Stop - Horse on Road!
It was a just above freezing 2 degrees C when we returned to Lacock the morning after our evening meal there at The George Inn. When we had left the previous evening, we had missed a turn and had ended up on a narrow walled road that looked interesting, so we decided to return there for a closer look in the daylight. Here, we and the other cars had to wait for this rider and horse to slowly walk along the narrow bridge over the River Avon (Lacock Abbey can be glimpsed in the distance among the trees). This is something that is not unexpected in England, the roads often narrow down to less than two lanes, requiring traffic in one direction or the other to give way to the oncomers! In this case, we had some very pleasant scenery to admire while we waited.
