There is one long distance footpath going through the town. This is "The Severn Way" and is waymarked along the whole of its length. It goes, as you would expect with a name like that, alongside the River Severn from its source in Mid Wales to the Bristol Channel where the river enters the sea. It is the longest riverside walk in Britain (it is 356km, or 221 miles long). It goes along the west bank of the river through the town. It comes from Bewdley in the north and goes on to Worcester in the south.

On the 2nd weekend in August is the annual rowing regatta held on the River Severn. It is based on the rowing club headquarters on the west bank of the river. Unless you are a participant it is best viewed off the bridge or from the Riverside Meadows.
