One of the incentives for our son-in-law to do the canal trip with us was that he could visit pubs along the way. So one of the things I did was research the local pubs that we could visit. Malvern Warnings and Dangers

Yes, I know this sounds obvious, being in the middle of the Malvern hills, but the area is very far from being flat.Specifically, when driving, there are some particularly steep hills and rather nasty road junctions to negotiate, so make sure you are confident with your hill start technique.

    Hindlip Hall

    by DUNK67 Updated May 4, 2004

Favorite thing: Hindlip is a couple of minutes drive from junction 6 of the M5 in the county of Worcestershire. The most notable thing in Hindlip is Hindlip Hall which is clearly seen on top of the hill. The hall is home to the West Mercia Police Force and contains the control centre for the Force, training centre and Black Museum. Although the museum isn`t open to the public I visited as part of a college careers day. It houses some very macarbre things like body parts in jars and photos of murder victims. There are also exhibitions of confiscated weapons ranging from home made to purpose built.

    http://www.westmercia.police.uk/

Fondest memory: Driving round the duel carriage way at 110miles per hour in a Police training BMW and also going off road in a Police Range Rover.

A few miles from Drotwich is the Brook Line Dunhampstead hire base for canal boats. Severn Stoke Country Club: College Clubbing.

    by DUNK67 Written Jun 1, 2004

Severn Stoke Country Club used to be the in place for parties when I was at college, unfortunately it has now been turned into a hotel. We used to have some good times there and even though now it was serious, back then it was an adventure when we were raided by the police for drugs. Luckily I didn`t do drugs , I`m not too sure if anybody got caught though.

Dress Code: Smart casual was required at the time.
