Passing Largs Yatch Haven

the cycle route between Fairlie and Largs follows the coast passing Largs yatch haven where you can get coffee and a snack, then the Pencil built to commemorate the 'battle of Largs' when the Viking invaders were defeated then around the shore front which in places is rugged and in others beautiful stretches of sand then around the sea wall and the start of the prom where there is crazy golf, a putting green and the largest play park I have ever encountered . The view of Cumbrae are marvelous and as you come towards the ferry terminal there are coffee and ice cream parlours for further refreshment carrying along the prom brings you to Vikingar museum where you can learn more about the Vikings

Kelburn Castle and Country Centre is a true family day out. The castle itself has been 'painted' this year by graffiti artists and the 'Scottish Boys Wall' on the back of the museum is truly spectacular.
For the children there are actually a number of adventure area's , my daughter loves the tree tops course that winds its way up the hillside meeting with the secret forest which is a place you have to visit to appreciate consisting of crocodile swamp, gingerbread house, a weenies cottage the list goes on we have been a number of times and each time find something we didn't spot before.
There is a birds of prey centre where you actually meet the birds out of cages and the centre rangers are very clued up giving info on any subject you ask about.
The waterfall and the burn are wonderful anytime of the year and we go in the winter when it is in full flow there is a tea room and an indoor play area for my daughter and she has enjoyed the pony treks and there are numerous walks that our dogs enjoy.
