The take-away is a step above your everyday chippie but worth the extra price, and wait. Very busy on a Friday, you can have your fish in batter, or if you ask matzo meal. Fish is cooked to order, portion of chips are good. The fish is marvellous.
The restaurant is served from the same kitchen, its a bit too formal for my tastes, but ok for a special occassion, its brightly lit, i'm not sure that is a good thing.
Favorite Dish:
Plaice and chips with mushy peas or a gherkin. Plenty of vinegar but I'm trying to keep the salt to a minimum.
My price estimate relates to the take away, restaurant allow about £15 per person, including wine from the Manzi brothers own vineyard in Italy.
This is the best place to eat cheaply in Finchley, well apart from my own kitchen. It is basic food fry ups, baked spuds, sandwiches, omlettes but the service is much better than many so called restaurants.
Favorite Dish:
The choice of breakfast specials, my favourite is Set 3 with black pudding, the food arrives hot in good time and in the right order. There is ketchup on the table, no fushy sachets.
Maybe, my taste are simple, but this place is always busy. Its mainly because of the owner/ manager, who always makes everyone seem welcome and plays attention to everyone needs.
