Gourock has an outdoor swimming pool which has a seperate splash pool for young children and there are diving boards at the deep end. There is a small cafe which serves snacks and the spectators area is capable of seating a large number of people. It offers a great family day out and there is often other entertainment at the pool.
Ramada Gourock, Gourock, United Kingdom
This is one of the best bars in Gourock that also serves some decent nosh! The menu is a mix of everything and includes some veggie options.
Favorite Dish: Make sure to order the hand-cut chips rather than the regular fries.
This Ferry is definitely a rip off. You go an that ferry without noticing how much it costs -- no signs anywhere. And then you get on the ferry and just before departure a guy comes round and collects
£21,10 pounds (car + 4 adults) for nothing more than a 15 minute one way trip to Dunoon. By which time you have 5 cars behind you which would all have to reverse to let us out, had we refused to pay the fare. They certainly saw us coming !!!
However it was a pleasant trip.
For more pictures of the ferry trip and the surrounding area visit my website and look at "Renfrewshire" "Argyll": www.schottland-tour.com
Unique Suggestions: The only way to make this rip off experience enjoyable is to make sure you are the first one and refuse to pay the extremely overpriced fare and make all the cars behind you reverse to let you out!
We heard that there is a way to prebook this ferry (the method the locals use) which is a somewhat cheaper.
Fun Alternatives: There is another route further south along the coast run by a different operator. Perhaps you should try them instead.
