Hanwell is an oasis of peace and quiet. We didn't meet anyone as we went for a walk from the church to the main street to take photos of the lovely cottages we had passed on our way and then back to the car cutting across the village green with slings and slides for the children. It was a little cooler in the shade of the enormous trees and all we could hear was the cooing of the wood pigeons.
The beautiful St Peter's Church at Hanwell dates back to the twelfth century and is a Grade 1 Listed building. There is a small car park in the shade of the enormous old trees in front of it, but the church was closed so we could only walk around it and see the graveyard with some old graves. The Church has five bells but, according to information from the Internet, they are unringable. Wouldn't it be nice to hear them ring again?
