It is known as Garden of Rest, formerly the village green which was heart of the old village. The Horsforth Village Museum is situated the opposite and near the popular Black Bull Pub. I noted some old grave stones which could suggest a site of a former cemetery.

The Village Museum was opened to the public in 1988 by the Horsforth Village Historical Society led by Dr Alastair Lawrence. Volunteers, today, help organise and run the Village Museum.
The museum exhibits Horsforth's proud history when it was once the largest village in England. There are a number of interesting exhibits from when Horsforth became a settlement and to the village's involvement in the World Wars.
An exhibit to take note of is the Corvette HMS Aubretia and the successful capture of a German Enigma machine in one of the World Wars. Also there is a piece of embroidery which was done in building by a girl who lived there when the house was private.
I thoroughly enjoyed spending some time at the museum and I was impressed with the exhibitions especially the social history, which is one of my interests.
Visitors are welcome to access the museum's archives via special arrangement. Coffee mornings are held the last Saturday of every month except for December.
It's free of charge although donations are welcomed. The opening hours are last Saturday in March to the end of December. Saturdays: 10.00am-4.00pm and Sundays: 2.00pm-5.00pm.

I popped in order an Americano coffee to take out as I didn't have long for my bus home. It cost me 1.95 gbp. I decided then to join the Costa Coffee Club as I do like my coffee!
Favorite Dish: I ordered an Americano to take out.

These two bars are the best in the area. Sand Bar is recently extended and is a slightly glitzy option but still pretty laid back with nice food. Town Street Tavern is a non-smoking real ale bar with good food, no music and a great array of beers to choose from around the world.
