Driving from Glasgow-Prestwick Airport to Irvine

Driving around Irvine is not so bad, although it does rain often. Just remember also that unlike American roads, you must drive on the left side of the road. You may want to take a taxi or let a more experienced driver take you around first if you've never driven this way before.

get a zone card or family travel ticket

if you are traveling around the local area - and not just to irvine - ask at the train station about zone cards and family travel tickets.

all the local services come under strathclyde passenger transport - but they are run by various different companies - which means buying lots of expensive single or return tickets.

getting a zone card or a family scratch card - will save you soooooo much money

For me, its a hockey destination. The town is more commercial/industrial than a tourist spot. It does have a beach, and a golf course with a good reputation, plus a few other things to do (see tips),...

Where it began

Well I suppose I should make a small mention about the town of Irvine because it is here on the 26th July 1969 in Irvine Central Hospital that I was born :-)
