There's a strange new year's eve custom in Keswick. Lots of people (obviously young, drunk and local) climb the flagpole on the main square and risk starting the new year with several broken limbs because of falling down.
This year there weren't any accidents but one guy ruined the start of his year by climbing the pole in his underpants and dropping them as soon as he reached the top. I bet he was a bit embarrassed when he was sober the next morning and realised that he was the talk of town!

Fish & Chips and Outdoor Shops: Keswick

For two nights we stayed in Keswick, one of the main tourist towns in Lake District. It's a pleasant little town and a perfect base for trips around the Lakes I think.

Lyzzick Hall is a fabulous bed and breakfast about two miles outside of Keswick. The view is breathtaking and the food was incredible! I would highly recommend a stay or dinner visit at Lyzzick Hall!

I'm going to try to find some pictures. i just remember a mad scramble up a rather large and enjoyable peat-y hill that was considered a mountain. More to come if I find pictures and/or memories
