In Kings Langley 's church you find the tomb of Edmund de Langley (1341-1402) first Duke of York. He was the 5th son of King Edward the III. The tomb originally was in another church but moved to this one in 1571. So the church is at least that old.
He was born in Langley Palace but that doesn't exist anymore. Unfortunately.
His grandson claimed the throne and was as such responible fro the start of the war of the roses. His great-grandson was made king.
Edmund was the Duke of York in Shakespeare's Richard the 2nd.
Since it is hardly a tourist spot, the tomb is well kept but surrounded by plastic chairs stacked on one side and other every day things. Since the tomb is in a small chapel it is probably thought that this way all this stuff is easily accessible while not plain in sight.

This window was donated to the Kings Langley church in 1878 by Queen Victoria. It might have been a gift because of her becoming Empress of India in that year but i haven't been able to verify that.

It is already a rather old church. The tomb of Edmund the Langley was placed here in 1571 so the church already existed then. But is likely a bit older even then that. It is a rather small church and looks (or is?) much smaller even on the inside then one would expect. But it is in remarcable good condition and the details are superb.
