Watch the salmon leaping
This attractive waterfall is reached by walking down a steer and slippery path. Nowadays it has been made safer and there are metal fences to stop anyone falling into the turbulent water or the pool beneath the falls.
In summer when the salmon are ready to spawn, they congregate in the pool and rest before attempting to leap up over the fall and work their way upstream to lay their eggs.
Sometimes there will be a spate of fish leaping. At other times you may have to wait hours and then only to have the salmon fail in her attempt. When a small fish makes it the watchers wiill audibly express their joy.
