Lossiemouth is an excellent place to sail. First of all, it has the best climate in Scotland... Secondly, there are boats for hire with and without crew, and good harbour facilities for sailors.

    At 1629

by Saagar Written Jul 23, 2006

The 1629 Restaurant down on the harbour side of lossie was an excellent choice for a dinner out. Italian emphasis, a bit on the stiff side, but a food place - not a place to go for rowdy pub meals and music.
Why the name 1629? Escapes me still, but try the web site www.the1629.co.uk for a probable explanation. As most things to do with UK, there's got something to do with history.
The food was nothing historical, but fresh and excellent. The menu of the day was reflecting the proximity to the sea and the cattle of the Scottish highlands. Traditional Italian dishes witha Scottish twist, but excellent food. And knowledgabel people serving.

Favorite Dish: I had a very well recommendable pepper steak with Italian flair, my compatriots had the sea food menu of the day which included grilled halibut as the main dish - all very good.
