Licensing laws: Time Gentlemen Please
by monkeyfeesh
In the UK, the legal drinking age is 18. There are a few qualifications to the law - if you're in a restaurant, for example, you can have a glass of wine or two with your meal if you're over the age of 14. If you're around 18, or older but look younger, it's best to have some form of recognisable ID with you. Lots of people here go drinking underage and never get ID'd (I didn't), but if you think you'll need it, take some ID. You won't get into trouble, but you won't be served. Our licencing laws are much more liberal now than they were a few years ago, so the 11pm last orders ritual of buying a lot of beer and drinking it as quickly as possible in the 15 minutes before the pubs chuck you out is now a thing of the past, or at least happens an hour or so later.
Make sure you look old enough. No plastic beards though.
