Manchester City Centre....

by TerryG

Manchester City Centre. Bars,Cafes,Resturaunts and all the usual things associated with a major city. Pay a visit to the famous China Town in the George St area.No different to any other major city except the amount of rain we get (sorry a famous Manchester joke) Most bars are smart/casual but Nightclubs have a stricter dress code of trousers and proper shirts but ties are not generally needed.

Don't expect too much of the club or theatre type thing around here. For this visit Plymouth, Torquay or Exeter where clubs and pubs abound. There is a small club in Kingsbridge known as 'Fusion' which is popular.Sorry but not of lot of help here - I shall have to ask my daughters! Fusion, Kingsbridge - casual/smart - no jeans.

Bar 11 on Burgate, just up from the Cathedral. It is a gay bar, and very friendly. A good mix of people, very studenty. Drinks a bit pricey but its a classy joint. Good food too. They have bouncers on a weekend so I guess you've got to be reasonably well dressed, no trainers that kind of thing.

by katiejt

The Garage in Glasgow - very studenty, with a good mix of music. The main floor is cheesey (very broadly speaking - I wouldn't class Nirvana, The Beatles or The Strokes as cheese, but they're all played, along with the other stuff), downstairs it's charty dance, and upstairs is Indie. So there's quite a good mix. It's very relaxed - no funny dresscodes or anything, and it's surrounded by lots of pubs you can start your night in! Plus, everyone goes there, so if you live in Glasgow and go to the Garage, you're almost guaranteed to meet someone you know! Like I said above, I don't really think there is much of a dress code - casual, dressy, whatever. Probably no tracksuits, but who would want to wear them out anyway?!

Slimelight, the sister of the 'Limelight' in NYCGreat club. It is a dive, really, but that adds to the charm. You have to have a membership to join (20 pounds) or get in with a friend who has a membership. With a membership, it is 5 pounds to get in, otherwise 7 pounds if you are tagging along with someone. Really intersting music. There is a gothic room, a noise room, industrial music, and really great fashion-y (is that word?) people. Great for people watching, and the drinks weren't that badly priced, really. A double gin and tonic (or double vodka, whatever) is around 4.50 pounds Gothic/industrial/cyberlore/punk, you get the idea.

Duke of York...small neighborhood pub, near the linen house, around the corner from the Whig (tourist trap! and lines (can't spell queue...) to boot. friendly staff and clients...Fibber Magee's...OHMYGOD. record for 10 hrs in a pub (st. patrick's day)...get a snug and watch the people rotate through and around you...really friendly locals...huge place-like 3 pubs in one! and an upstairs club too!friendly, fast, clean...although 3 loos never enough for us women! anything.

by gingerpipp

London's expensive, Manchester is rough .. but Newcastle... how theres a place that knows how to party. Comes with steep streets which are amusing when drunk, groovy bars and a club on a boat!As mentioned above, its unique through and through. Theres plenty of choice but mostly its trousers, shoes and shirts ... yep i know its typical towny gear but someplaces are more leanient than others.

Any Pub in England!!!!!!!!!!!: Any Pub in England!!!!!!!!!!!

by Travellgirl

There are so many different types of pubs...They are all so much fun...and the people are friendly...Country pubs are really nice as they are quaint and it is what you think of when you think of 'English Pub.' Also, the drinks are good! Anything goes!!!!

Almost any pub!: Almost any pub!

by reon80

Pubs are very British and very fun:) You can go to a pub for dinner or go for drinks with your friends...and each one is pretty unique! Try one like the Dracula Pub in South Kensington where they make the 7 deadly sins into drinks or any of the numerous Irish pubs around:) But beware--they usually close around 11!
