The British nightlife - well...

by buck_turbo

The British nightlife - well on the minus side, the quaint custom of closing the bars at 11.00pm and SCREAMING at everyone to get out, the most expensive booze in Europe outside of Scandinavia, and some very violent places. Avoid drinking in the pedestrianised shopping precincts in provincial towns (unless you have a death wish or you're a pretty girl). On the plus side - some of the night clubs aren't too bad and they put on some good offers with drinks (But it's still bed at 2.00 am.)Remember that in the north of England/Scotland the people are friendlier and the drinks are much cheaper. Special note on Liverpool - lots of people have been punched for the first time in their lives in this town. GOOD LUCK AND LETS BE CAREFUL OUT THERE

I wouldn't say that there is any one place in Douglas that is so good that you'd want to stay there for longer than an hour or two. I quite like the following places, however: The Outback, The Old Bailey, Strand 58. A new place called the Havana has opened, but I'm not allowed in, more because i've got a boyhead than because im 20 not 21. But my friends say its ok. Urban casual, watch out though, alot of the places are fussy about your shoes, especially on a friday or saturday you're best off with smart brogues.

Pubs. (Close at eleven usually). Nightlife is quite strange. English people wear very exclusive clothes when they go to night clubs (which close before three). For Dutch people it seems oldfashioned. Pubs in villages are extremely small. In some pubs only five visitors get along per night. Good cosy atmosphere.Good food. In pubs very usual. In night clubs very exclusive.

by caprice4u2

What can I say, there are quite simply thousands of clubs throughout the UK, to tickle pretty much everyone's fancy...these days, I tend to find myself...well, here, listening to music and computer chair dancing to the likes of MIA (see pic, of my daughter superimposed onto a pic of her idol...) Aaliyah, Destiny's Child, Mary J Blige, Maxwell , Tamia etc etc...I will add and list clubs as I think of them :-)

by woohoodehoo

The Garage, Glasgow. If you're a student you simply have to go.The place is huge. You are liable to either get lost or lose your pals or both on your first visit coz there are 4 different areas which play different music and the place is jumpin. Especially on Thursdays (student night) and Saturdays. And Tuesdays and Fridays......Even if you do get lost don't stress coz its full of daft drunken students like myself who talk to absolutely everyone next to us. The Garage is open every day from 11pm til 3am and there are often promos like vodka mix for 60p. And gigs/concerts often take place there before it opens as a club. What more could you ask for???!!!! Anything that takes your fancy. Yippee!!!

Pubs and clubs:Everywhere in...

by Aragina

Pubs and clubs:Everywhere in the Uk has a pub even the smallest villages have them, if you can't find one ask a local :-) British Pubs differ from Old world to modern theme's, you will find many Irish pubs in the UK and many pubs also have superb restaraunts, even if they dont you will always be able to find something to eat in them. Some Pubs have live bands playing. A lot of UK Pubs also have childrens areas. The legal drinking age in the UK is 18 and you may be asked for ID. Clubs: Again you will find everywhere all sorts of nightclubs, ask anyone local and they will give you their best suggestion. In pubs go as you are. In clubs it differs and is suggested you dress casual smart and have a tie tucked about you just in case, most clubs dont let you in with sports shoes.
