It may seem obvious to some but I think it is worth mentioning that you should make sure you take the correct currency when visiting Belfast. You will be in Northern Ireland and as this is part of the UK the currency in use is Sterling Pounds.
This differs to Southern Ireland also referred to as the Republic of Ireland which is independent and has adopted the Euro.
Euro can be used in some tourist areas in Northern Ireland and of course if you want to take a day trip to say Dublin in the south then you will need some Euro.
Luggage and bags:
For a Day Trip to Belfast- I just carried a large handbag- big enough to pack my camera, purse, notebook, and a fold up carry bag-in case I bought anything - I was travelling by Ryanair with Hand luggage only, so this was strictly 1 bag!
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Belfast is prone to rain and cold weather, so come prepared- layers, including waterproof jacket.
Even in the Summer months, there might be rain, so come prepared.
Belfast is a compact city, so it is easy to get around on foot. However, pack your old comfy shoes, there are a few uneven places, and you might walk for miles, while exploring Belfast.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: As always - carry essential medicines and bring your prescription. There are pharmacies here a plenty in Belfast if you are near to running out
Photo Equipment: As much as you can carry! Some unusual and photogenic areas!
