Belfast Zoo, just off the Cavehill road (on a main bus route from the city centre) is one of the leading breeding zoos in Europe. With everything from Polar bears to Meercats (a firm visitor favourite) it is well worth the £6 entrance fee. You will also laugh at the gophers who have made their home all over the grounds with burrows appearing under your feet from all directions. Go there bring a picnic and enjoy!

Belfast Zoo is perched on the side of the Cave Hill, and there are great views over the city from here, as well as lots to see in the Zoo. Don't miss the spectacled bears, the red pandas, the gorillas and the amazing underwater viewing of sealions and penguins.
