Visited Monaco bar, Derry, on Saturday April 9th with my wife. No great atmosphere.Lounge area in darkness and not in use. Barmaid must have imagined that we were tourists because she overcharged us considerably - £7.60. The same round cost £6.30 in nearby pub which had entertainment + atmosphere. The Monaco is a city centre pub beside historic walls, Guildhall, river Foyle, restaurants, etc. yet a lack of imagination has left it dead on a Saturday night. Dead and expensive. Tourists beware.

Cruise on the River Foyle out into the Bay and back. DJ and dancing. Snacks sold at the bar (lower deck), beer, wine, alcoholic beverages, pub tables and chairs, pub atmosphere, suitable for children. Was raining when we cruised so we stayed indoors and viewed the banks from the windows, but you can cruise on the outdoor upper deck in good weather. You'll meet some interesting people. Local DJ on-board so we danced the night away with mostly college students. Board at the Pier; follow the signs. 4-hour cruise: 2 hours out and 2 hours back.

On a main street in Derry, Northern Ireland, is The Roc, the bar on the first floor at Earth Nightclub. Upstairs is Earth, the number One nightclub in Derry. You can dance the night away. There's a small dance floor at the Roc bar, and upstairs is the larger nightclub. One special night here, after closing, some of the "bouncers" came home with Val and her college roommates for music and to continue the party until, well, say, 4 am; I was trying to sleep in my room. Almost impossible with the loud music. I envisioned one of the guys stumbling to find the lav and falling into my room by mistake! So, I quickly locked my door! Located near Magee College, University of Ulster.
