Oh So Unpredictable
by arty_girl
Waistbag (Large cities such as Dublin can have a bit of a problem of thieves, especially in tourist areas. I wouldn't worry too much but perhaps leave the bulk of your money in your B&B/Hotel or else keep it in a money belt
1. Raincoats & Umbrellas (There's a shop in Ireland called Penney/Primark in N.I which sell umbrellas very cheaply) I'd just buy them here if you're planning on packing light. It sells clothes too and is renowned for being cheap.2. Good walking/hiking shoes (especially for countryside), a pair of sandals can be good for shopping or suny weather... a pair of smart shoes for evenings wouldn't be a bad idea either! 3. One good tip is to layer your clothes. On an average day I wear a strappy top, a tshirt and a cardigan/hoody (often all at once in the morning, then if it gets warmer I can just de-layer) A couple of pairs of shorts/skirts wouldn't go a miss just incase...
A few things to remember to pack

a shopping bag there is a 15c levy on all plastic bags
Good walking shoes, maybe a pair of wellies and a raincoat.
a UK adaptor is what works in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.A good sense of humour is needed and required
Gasoline - much cheaper in Irland than in N.Irland

Fill your tank to the brim, before you are leaving the Republic of Ireland !Gasoline and Diesel are rather cheap in Ireland ! The price for fuel is about 30% less there than in Northern-Ireland, U.K., France, Netherlands, Germany or in Scandinavia.Real borderlines do not exist anymore, you will just realize, that the roads are marked in a different way, that telephone-booths etc. will look different and that the prices are not indicated in Euros anymore but in GB-Pounds of course...About my picture : I am sure this wellknown Petrol&Beer-station on Healy-Pass is neighter filled with beer nor with petrol......it simply makes a great photo for many tourists and it took me quite some time to find it...
Prepare for four seasons in one day
by rufusni
Take it from some-one local you never know what weather you might get here. You could get snow in May, warm and sunny in March, an Indian summer in September/October, rain and gales in August. Never mind the fact that it could change several times in one day. If you come you will need a raincoat and to fit with the locals a folding umbrella because unless you are extremely lucky it will rain quite a bit - its the only way to keep the place so green. but don't let that put you off coming as the sun does shine too!
