Suitcase/ waterproof backpack/sportsbag Yes do take that warm sweater, that raincoat, wintercoat and those boots with you! Waterproof camerabag! Films you can get everywhere England is cold. Swimming is only possible in pools in july when its warm. The beaches are a bit rough (sea can be dangerous, the streaming is often strong, especially for kids) On the picture: Padstowe

Ok, so everyone knows that it always rains in Scotland. Bring a MAC blah blah! However, what not everyone knows is that occaisionally in the summer that big round yellow ball does actually come out to meet us! So, if you are coming to Scotland in the summer, don't JUST pack your winter woolies - it's not that bad...you might possibly even be able to wear shorts and T-shirts... One problem with Scotland from May to about October (and this is the only thing I don't like about Scotland) is the MIDGES. Kinda like little mosquitoes, they are really bad and kinda swarm around you if they like the taste of your blood! Bring some mosquito cream or when you are here get some stuff for midges..most of it doesn't work but there you are...the best technique I have found so far is running around like a madman with arms flailing all over the place!! ;-)

Good walking shoes, rain coat (buy your umbrella in the U.K. for a special momento!). Good socks, some places still don't have central heating, so you may need to even wear them to bed! Bring as many films as you can - they get very expensive in the U.K. The cheapest we found was about 13 pounds for 4 - this works out to be quite expensive in dollars! Don't forget your plug in adaptor! Absolutely neccessary for your hair dryer, curling iron, etc.

I had front and rear panniers and a small rucksack, my friend had rear panniers, a bag attached to his stearing and a biking sack bought in Lerwick. We actually had plenty of room. The number of panniers of course depends on the number of whisky bottles you plan to take along. We did not carry much clothes, but even so, we carried too much. I had planned to buy additional clothing at the distilleries and so I did. We both actually bought raincoats for some reason or other. This depends on the kind of stomach you have. I managed well with a toothbrush. Be sure to load up on film on the ferry. Don't. A couple of small unbrakable glasse for you whisky dram is a necessity. And do not be scared by the kitch. The Scots love it, but then - bad taste is universal.

I recommend luggage with wheels so that it is easier and faster to get around the airports and the transportation you take. I recommend a rain coat because at certain times it rains alot. Long pants are good becasue it is chilly at times but take a pair of shorts just in case. I stayed there for 3 weeks and didn't need the shorts but for 2 days. Walking shoes are good because of the sight seeing that you might do. Take the items that you know that you will need and just a little first aid kit just in case of a cut or scrape that happens on accident. You may need an adapter for the chargers for your cameras and pack extra batteries because you won't want to take the time to go and buy them. If you camp out like I did for a week, you will have no way to charge your camera batteries are a good idea. If you camp like I did, you will need a tarp to go around your sleeping gear. It rains...

I always use a large back pack, with a smaller bag for daytripping. This really depends on the type of travel you prefer. The trouble with Britain is its variable weather. There is no telling what you may wake up to.( Perhaps the reason why discussing the weather is a national past-time here!Although Cornwall reputedly has some of the warmest weather and the mildest winters, this has not been the case in the two years that I have lived here!!Your safest bet on a UK trip is to bring lots of light layers, so you can add or strip off as the weather changes. A swimsuit is a must for Cornwall and its miles of coast. A light waterproof jacket is best as it can easily be carried if the sun decides to appear. As with any hiking or sightseeing a good stout pair of boots or trainers. Almost anything you could need is available in Britain. There aer lots of campsites in the UK, although some...

Get familiar with Customs and what they do and don't allow in or out of the country. It's best to pack for all kinds of weather. Sun,Rain,Fog,Cold.Extra Clothing and shoes. Best to be prepared. Better to over pack than under pack. A small First Aide kit can come in rather handy in case of accidents. Pack sunscreen and other items that you may prefer to take. Enjoy yourself!

Take as little as possible! I went for two weeks and only had a big purse and a carry-on. Plan on wearing things more than once. There are laundromats (washeterias) available (although they are very expensive). I didn't check my luggage on the way there for fear of it being lost. I did on the way home because I had lots of souvenirs and things like that. If you need something there you can always buy it! As far as toiletries, take only as much as you'll need for your trip, not the whole container you have in your bathroom! Before I went to the UK I read that you should wear dark shoes (not sneakers) because the shoes we wear tell everyone you're from the US. I didn't do that and wore my white sneakers. Of course I stood out like a sore thumb. Next time I'll listen. Sometimes it's just better to blend in to the crowd. Especially in London. Take only as much as you need for the trip. If...
