Well, definitely to bring with you: rain gear, warm clothes and don't forget your gloves (we did).A fleece sweater is ideal. But also be sure to get a sunblocker. When the sun shines, it will burn you completely. The sea, the wind and the water takes care of that.Besides that, there is no place to hide. There are no trees or bushes or even shelters around.

To the left is very green WALES. It is green for a reason, it rains quite a bit there. Or at least when I was there. That was actually the house I stayed at. Very old...and very neat!!!Please, if you backpack or camp, be wise and carry a pack. Don't lug around wheeled luggage. OTHERWISE, if you are not camping or backpacking, wheeled luggage is the best. I don't go anywhere without my Ricardo Beverly Hills 22' upright wheelie bag. It has a hanging clothes section, and a folded up clothing section. It also has numerous pockets, etc. that make travelling real easy! :) Plus it is purple, easy to spot on the claim once home. I live in my boots while travelling in Britain. That is if I spend time in Scotland or any part of England that I plan on hiking in the muck. My last trip in 2000, I just went to cities and villages, so I wore a black pair of Keds. Very comfy! So, bring boots and bring...

I try to take a bag that is sturdy and small. Something that has both wheels and a strong handle is good because of all the steps around London in the tube stations and all the walking you may have to do. I found that it wasn't as cold in London as I thought it might be. Don't bother with the extra heavy sweaters and coats. Instead, take clothes that you can layer. Once you walk into a building it's extremely hot because everything is heated. So practice layering and take a coat that is warm, but not ridiculously hot. I didn't find it difficult to get batteries for my 35mm camera, but I didn't have a digital or video with me so that may be different. As for the power difference, I went to Radio Shack and got an adapter that worked in all different countries and I had not problems with my laptop at all.

Bring a good selection of clothing for all kinds of weather in the UK. One day it is cold and wet, the next day it can be hot and humid. Unfortunately, wet is the word that generally describes the weather over here. The UK uses a unique three pin plug for 240V electrical sockets. Make sure you bring a suitable adapter.

Bring an umbrella. It is an excellent preventor of rain. Bring a power convertor if you have any small electric appliances like hair dryer, curling iron, etc. Otherwise, PACK LIGHT. You will wind up shopping and having too much to carry home. Also, if you are visiting several countries you may wind up walking 1/2 mile from a bus stop to a train...with all your bags....and have to carry them up and down steps because there are no lifts in the subways! Backpacks work great for European travel, but if you buy one there, ask for a 'rock sack', or they won't know what you want!

Ruck sac or large squashy duffle with wheels. They are easy to pack and store. When visiting the UK in the summer bring layers. It can get hot enough to sun bath but as soon as the sun leaves the sky the temperature usually drops dramatically. Sart with a tee shirt or vest top and wear a long sleeved T-Shirt over the top. Tie a jumper or fleece around your waist and always carry some form of waterproof clothing especially whilst out camping. If you are out walking for the day or camping bring basic medical supplies of bandages, plasters, ointment and mosquito repellant in summer. You can get any photo equipment you need here but it is cheaper in the States. Make sure you carry adequate water proofing and your tent and ground sheet are in one peice. Invest in a good quality towel and wrap up warm when you leave the water. The coasts around the UK are notoriously windy.

ALWAYS be prepared for some chilly weather and/or some wet weather, regardless of the time of year. The U.K. (being an island nation in the North Atlantic) tends to get more than its fair share of cold, wet, dreary weather. But then again, these are the BEST times to enjoy a museum!!!

Backpacks or suitcases. ALways bring cold weather clothes and water proofs. When it's summer bring cool clothes but also bring the warmer clothes just incase. Whatever you usually use. You can always buy stuff when you get here. Camera, batteries and film but you can buy them here. Umbrella but you can buy one here.

Something that will repell water Comfortable shoes are a must. I brought my digital camera and was able to do fine although I didnt need to charge it. You will need UK adaptors for any charging. Dress in layers and bring a waterproof windbreaker or jacket you can stuff in a backpack. I was traveling in March and it was very cold and damp. Gloves and a nice scarf can make a big difference if your out walking. Chapstick and lotion
