Memorial park is the only public park in Padiham and comprises of two sites linked by a riverside walk along the river Calder,one at the top of town off Blackburn rd,and the other at the bottom of the hill ajacent to Park rd.Funds for the construction were mainly provided by the will of Mr Thomas Clayton who died in 1915,although public subscription provided much of the money for many of the park's features.
The park was officially opened in 1921,however,several features were added later as funds allowed for bowling greens,tennis courts and a band stand.
The park is great for pleasent walks or sitting down and watching the birds etc,facilities include:childrens play area,skate park,tennis court,bowling green,rose garden,toilets,visitors centre,Padiham leisure centre and a woodland walk.
A quaint little pet shop in the heart of Padiham is 'Paws and Tail',one of the smallest shops ive ever been to, with a massive selection of pet products and pet food,friendly helpful staff and masses of choice make this shop a local favorite.
