Padstow Restaurants

This is probably Padstow's finest restaurant. The food is inventive, delicious and provides a great dining option in the town. I had Scotch eggs that were filled with smoked salmon and a curried egg... fantastic and that was just the starter.

  • Good solid meal!

An excellent, down to earth, unfussy bistro serving delicious meals. Everything was wonderful but the sticky toffee pudding was a star.

  • Rick Steins Bistro

We wanted to go to one of Rick Steins restaurants in Padstow. We decided that a more informal place would suit us better and so pre booked a table here rather that at the "Seafood Restaurant" which is on of his other more formal places. We had three course meal here and it was excellent. We had booked the table a few weeks in advance and this was a...

  • Fish & Chips

Padstow is also known as 'Padstein' as it seems celebrity chef Rick Stein has taken over the town with his various eating venues and food establishments. We decided not to shell out for a meal at his expensive Seafood Restaurant, but opted instead for a relaxed lunch at Stein's Fish & Chips, which offers take away and also has an eat-in section.You...

  • Good but pricey fish n chips

The line up was out the door....all day! What more can you say about this fish and chip shop?I didn't actually eat can only fit in so much food and between the huge lunch I had plus the cream tea I just couldn't fit any more in. However it was popular and I was disapointed to miss out on what would have been a great meal. I looked at...

  • More treats from Rick

I went into this delightful shop and took ages to decide what to get. There were some very nice cakes, slices and pastries to choose from. Prices all round were higher than average but the place was quite busy.Their bread also seemed popular. I ended up choosing a white chocolate mango concoction which turned out to be delicious. It sounded and...

  • Cornish Pasties!

Throughout Padstow there are quite a few bakeries selling delicious Cornish Pasties. You can't go to Cornwall and not sink your teeth into this yummy treat.Even walking around you will smell the distinct aroma of the pasties...very tempting! There are lots of pasties to choose from plus other pastries as well.

  • Nice alfresco dining

This restaurant was right on the harbour and it was nice sitting out street side watching all the activity. I just had a coffee here but the selection was tempting. Have a look at picture 2 to see the menu.

  • Great Cream Teas!

The first thing I thought was how under decorated and plain the interior was. Very basic but nice. It was busy but not overly crowded and the service was excellent. I had afternoon tea at the cafe and chose the 'Cream Tea' which was extremely good. I actually asked if they had any scones without sultanas and the girl said she didn't think so but...

  • Wonderful atmosphere!

I chose this pub for lunch because of the tempting menu on display out the front. And it just looked so nice with all those flowers covering the facade. There was a nice little dining room out the back and I think some sort of courtyard for those wanting an outdoor experience. It all looked good but I chose the Seafood Crock and when it came it was...

  • The best chinese take-away in town!

A fine selection of food.Very well priced, considering food prices have escalated due to fine dining establishments popping up in the town.Fast, Cheap & Cheerful.Traditional Chinese cuisine. Try the beef dishes!

  • Padstows Other Seafood Restaurant

Hosted by The Tregea Hotel in High Street, The Estuary Seafood Restaurant has got to be worth a visit. Whilst being off the beaten track tucked up in the quieter part of Padstow this quaint little 20 cover restaurant is patiently serving high quality fresh fish and shellfish at sensible prices. There are also a few alternatives for the non seafood...

  • Fish and Chips

Like pretty much everyone that goes to Padstow we had intended to get a take away from Rick Stein's place but such were the queues that we changed our minds. There is a huge number of food outlets in Padstow but we eventually settled on Walker's.It has no tangible ambience - it's clean and simple. Modern but unfussy. A faintly upclass...

  • Ultimate fish and chips!!!!!

WOW!!!! Gotta say, the fish and chips here are simply the best i have ever tasted!!! The queue was a bit long so it took a while to get them, but they were well worth the wait. Not a lot more expensive than a regular chip shop, despite mr Stein being pretty famous nowadays. I think average price was about £5.50 for fish n chips. The selection of...

    Take the ferry.

Take the ferry from Rock to Padstow. It is the most funny way to get there. You should have tried this once. It is a very small ferry but it is also a short distance so don't worry. I've done it several times and every time enjoyed it a lot.

Padstow Shopping

  • A chef's paradise

Yes it is another Rick Stein establishment! This shop was fun to shop around in. It was full of home furnishings and kitchen paraphenalia. I ended up buying two small Rick Stein cookbooks for 5 pound each and also two slate signs...Gone Fishing and Gone Surfing.Among other items for sale were aprons, teatowels, cooking utensils, art work crockery...

  • Seafood heaven!

If your looking for somewhere to pick up some fresh fish, this has to be a good place to come. All the fish is fresh straight off the boats in the harbour, so the quality is fantastic. I have had dressed crabs, prawns etc all to eat straight away, and it is all delicious. I have bought back home fish aswell and cooked which was also very good. The...

  • Cornish Pasties

Try a cornish pasty, delicious hot or cold, but not great on your waistline. The pasty is a symbol of the region, and there are many variations on the recipe, made from a mixture of meat, potatoes, onion and seasoning wrapped in a bread crust. It was originally eaten by miners, who held the pasty by its thick crust to avoid arsenic poisoning.

Padstow Off The Beaten Path

  • Take a coastal walk.

If you follow the harbour around towards the tourist information centre there are some steps on the left which will lead you up to a path. This path will take you out and around the headlands. It will lead you up passed the War Memorial to St George's Cove and further on to Hawker's Cove.Along the way you will see some of Britain's most lovely...

  • Walk along the coast.

When you are in Padstow it sure is worth to walk along the coast and enjoy the views there. When you are at the harbour, facing the sea, walk to the left. Follow the road along the cafe and the giftshops. There you will find a path along the coast. I always enjoyed walking there, watching the sea. You can see the beach at the other side of the sea,...

  • Fishing Town

Padstow has a colourful ancient history and has many medieval buildings, it remains as a working fishing port. From the harbour you can see a small fleet of fishing boats and holidaymakers on the water. If you get into trouble at sea, the lifeboat service will help, my cousin Michael is 2nd mechanic. Very hazy memories, but always good ones.

  • Just a small village.

The best thing to do here is just walk around and explore the village. It is not very big but it has lovely old streets, buildings, a nice path along the coast. Enjoy the harbour with all it's boats in it. In the summer many people visit here so it usually is pretty busy then. My fondest memory...guess it is the view when you walk along the coast....
