The station at Parkend acts as the northern terminus of the Dean Forest railway and recently opened in 2006 after its last passenger service finished in 1929. Its right in the middle of the Dean Forest and brings passengers to the village where local pubs and forest walks are aplenty, as is Nagshead bird reserve.
