It was getting close to the time for a lunchtime snack when heavy rain started to fall. We were passing one of the bakeries at the lower end of Market Place and noticed it also had a cafe. It was pretty full but we found a table right at the back near the serving counter and behind it we could see the kitchen.
We ordered Quiche Lorraine with a salad garnish and home made coleslaw . There were also some potato chips on the plate whn it arrived, the quiche was fresh from the oven, the coleslaw was one of the best I have had and it cost £3.05p. A very good pot of Yorkshire tea and curd tart brought the bill to about £9 for two.
We went back there a couple of times for the friendly service, good freshly prepared food and value for money.
There are a few places to eat in Pickering, but they are worth missing to get to the Black Swan.
Favorite Dish: Now the menu is a feast for the eyes. But the locally made meals are the best.
