  • You'll find Marks and Spencer stores all over the UK. Many of these stores have a café, called Café Revive. It's not a restaurant for a full lunch or even dinner, but a good choice for a quick rest while sightseeing or shopping. Their coffee is really good, you can have a sandwich or some biscuits and regain your strength. There are bathrooms at the cafés, free of charge.

  • Two restaurants, Bella Pasta and Pizza Express are franchises of pizza and pasta restaurants around the UK. Both have a good variety on the menu and the pizza has always been hot and delicious with fresh toppings. I recommend either.

  • We went here with my parents to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and had a lovely meal. The people were very friendly , the food was delicious and tasty, there was no loud music so we could chat easily with each other (my dad is a bit deaf which sometimes gives problems).
The menu has a good range of dishes. There also a happy hour when meals are cheaper and the dishes are also available as take away.
They are being renovated at the moment but we did not have any problems because of that.

Koos had Chinese Roast Duck and said it was delicious and I had Cantonese Sweet and Sour King Prawn ..... the best I have ever had !

    The Golden Galleon
    by margaretvn
We decided to eat fish and chips on the day we visited Aldeburgh, figured a seaside place with a fishing tradition would be a good place to do that. The weather was lovely and warm so we decided to buy our fish and chips and eat them on the beach. It was a very good decision. We went to the Golden Galleon on the main street of Aldeburgh and then cross over the srteet and there we were on the sea front. The service was good and the fish and chips freshly fried and piping hot. They were not at all greasy and very tasty. There is just nothing to beat eating them out of the paper on the beach. Later while we were exploring the place we saw a long line waiting to be served - it tailed off along the road! It showed us that the shop was very popular with the locals as well. Next door to the fish shop is a restaurabt if you do not fancy eating with your fingers or if the weather is less friendly than it was that day.

We had the medium cod and chips and I can really reccomend it - very tasty. Do not order the large unless you have a very big appetite and I mean VERY big appetite as the portions are large.

  • Mama Amalfi Italian Restaurant and Cafe
The most important unique quality is that this has to be the best Italian restaurant in Southend, a town one wouldn't immediately associate with nice restaurants!
This is the best cafe to get a coffee in in the town centre, with a true cafe feel, where you can relax in a chair, watch the street outside and enjoy nice coffee. If only it was on the waterfront with a better view!

Anything! But, the roast peppers stuffed with crushed olives at lunch time is delicious.

    A very photogenic building.

Hansons is a restaurant in the centre of Exeter. The specialty is Devonshire Teas. These include: scones, jam, tea, and of course clotted cream!
The restaurant is located on the edge of the green where the cathedral is. It's not cheap, but it is one of the 'must do' activities in Exeter.
The building itself is very old and has an interesting history. There is a map inside where you can stick a pin on your home country or city!

The building is a listed historical building - one of several in the centre of St Austell. The decor isn't great, but who cares - the food is what counts!

    'Cheesy Cod'.
This is garnished with roasted lemon, which is delicious. Steamed vegetables accompany a succulent piece of cod with a reserved cheese crust on top. Yum.

The trawlerman fish and chip shop
If you are travelling to swindon and you like ice skateing, then you will find this chip shop, it is 50metres from the 'link' centre ice rink, it is a local joint with no frills and unfriendly staff, so if you want real english food with the service come here!

Chilli burger, curry sause and chips!!yum yum!

There are a few decent pubs and restaurants that all offer reasonable priced food to suit everyones dietry requirements.
-The Ship Pub in Little Thurrock- offers a carvery and yummy bar food at fab prices.

-The Boat--Lakeside- a busyfloating bar on a nrw orleans style boat with trendy restaurant upstairs offers wie variety, can be a little expensive for things such as steak and chicken.

-The Harvester-Cosy restaurant recently opened this year (2000), very reasonable.

-The Dog and Partridge Pub-Stifford Clays-friendly bar offering traditional dishes.

-TGI-Americain Restaurant-Lakeside-Can be quite expensive but very very huge portions!
There are many restaurants in Grays high st, although a few are quite new and I have not tried all of them yet, Have heard others rating's on them and all rating's have been good!

-Indian, Chinese, Thai, which offer takeaway and seating , at compatible prices.
Both the Ship and the Dog and Partridge are oldy worldy designed with a cosy warm feeling to them both. Wooden Decor and warm reds and browns. The Dog and Partridge has a plaque above the fireplace which states there is a another Dog and Partridge in Calfornia usa.

I love traditional Roast dinners with lots of vegtables, roast crispy potatoes and thick gravy so the Ship and the Dog and Partridge suit me to a 'T'. Carvery restauarnts in the pubs also allow you to have as much as you like for a mere 11.00pounds!! (This also includes desserts if you have a sweet tooth at the Ship pub).

supposedly, indian food is the best here. I love indian food, but didnt eat any as i got the stomach flu.
if you are VEGETARIAN you have a hell of a time eating in rural scotland, unless fries and salad with no dressing is a meal you can live off of day and night.
go to pubs! drink and eat!

hairy coo! the cow in scotland is called hairy cow or highland cattle but it is said hairy coo! i had to take a photo of such a funny looking cow. I went to UK during foot and mouth disease so it was highly illegal to step foot on a farm unless it was your farm. so being the international criminal that i am, i took a photo with the hairy coo.
