McDonald's, BurgerKing, etc: Fast Food

by J.I.M

All the usual fast-food franchises are quite common in England. When in major cities you can never walk too far without seeing the famous McDonald's logo, so at least wherever you go you'll know you can eat something quick, if a little unhealthy!

Fish and Chips!

by J.I.M

The UK is abundant in Fish and Chip shops, where you can get takeaway meals such as doner kebabs, saveloys, sausages in batter, etc. Basically all the typical greasy English manky food that you eat when you're not paying attention to your diet! If you've been drinking then a doner kebab always goes down well :-D

THE BLACK RABBIT

by kwanou

THE BLACK RABBIT on Mill Road, Offham, Arundel, with a riverside view, is popular with families. They serve food all day and have a big choice of Sunday Roasts. Boat trips on the river Arun leave from the Black Rabbit.

Top Restaurants

by Galahad

90% of the top restaurants in the UK are in London, but other very good towns with top restaurants are Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow and Manchester. Unusual places with top restaurants are Ludlow in Shropshire, Padstow in Cornwall and Abergavenny in Wales. A couple of general tips - Monday to Wednesday are much quieter days, and all lunchtimes except Sundays and some special days like St Valentine's Day are very quiet and sometime cheaper as well.

Dynasty Indian Restaurant, Brochenhurst: Skip the Bangers and Mash, go INDIAN

Bentley's Food and Wine...

by JonnyUK

Bentley's Food and Wine CompanyThe restaurant is in the cellar of a small converted shop. This small, family run restaurant prides itself on the quality of the food and wine on offer. The Yorkshire Post newspaper awarded it the Best Restaurant in Yorkshire title in 2000. Best of British fully trimmed Rump of Beef served on Forest Mushroom Fume with a Vegetable and Potato Cake

Yo! sushi: Yo! Go! wit da flow!

by kiefy

Imagine a factory , then imagine a clean factory, now imagine well mannered staff with glowing smiles, now imagine all that with three casters of sake! and you will be saying "yo! sushi" Hot sticks of chicken with honey dip and a sticky toffee like sause, and a bed of beans!

Tip Photo
Hansons.: Hansons.

by worldkiwi

A very photogenic building. Hansons is a restaurant in the centre of Exeter. The specialty is Devonshire Teas. These include: scones, jam, tea, and of course clotted cream! The restaurant is located on the edge of the green where the cathedral is. It's not cheap, but it is one of the 'must do' activities in Exeter. The building itself is very old and has an interesting history. There is a map inside where you can stick a pin on your home country or city!

Tip Photo
White Hart Inn.: White Hart Inn.

by worldkiwi

The building is a listed historical building - one of several in the centre of St Austell. The decor isn't great, but who cares - the food is what counts! 'Cheesy Cod'.This is garnished with roasted lemon, which is delicious. Steamed vegetables accompany a succulent piece of cod with a reserved cheese crust on top. Yum.

Mama Amalfi Italian Restaurant...

by worldkiwi

Mama Amalfi Italian Restaurant and CafeThe most important unique quality is that this has to be the best Italian restaurant in Southend, a town one wouldn't immediately associate with nice restaurants! This is the best cafe to get a coffee in in the town centre, with a true cafe feel, where you can relax in a chair, watch the street outside and enjoy nice coffee. If only it was on the waterfront with a better view! Anything! But, the roast peppers stuffed with crushed olives at lunch time is delicious.
