Virtually any pub in London I went into for dinner, as well as smaller restaurants; better than many would expect. Scotland was lower key. In Loch Linnhe Scotland, ate fish and chips in wax paper standing outside the hotel late night after most restaurants had closed. I also went to London's Chinatown but maybe chose the wrong restaurant, as the food was just so-so and the service was brusque, not unlkie Hong Kong.Local places with interesting people, and even more friendly when they learn you're from overseas. Bangers and Mash; fish and chips, as long as it's fresh fish.
there arnt really many big restaurants. Most of the pubs offer a good pub meal and the cubley hall hotel and pub has a fine restaurant. Ohter general eateries include balti , chinese, fish and chips mmmmmm of which the dolphin shop is my favourite. fish and chips in case u didnt already guess :)

Clean, informal environment with very friendly staff who are very eager to please and have you come back All good but the Wednesday 'all-you-can-eat' buffet is cheap and excellent. The emphasis is on the Malaysian cuisine.
Old, friendly, pub in the pictoresque village of Upper Upnor (where Upnor Castle is located). The Kings Arms probably has better food but the Tudor Rose is cheaper and has much better beer. Reasonable quality pub food in £3-7 range
supposedly, indian food is the best here. I love indian food, but didnt eat any as i got the stomach flu.if you are VEGETARIAN you have a hell of a time eating in rural scotland, unless fries and salad with no dressing is a meal you can live off of day and night.go to pubs! drink and eat! hairy coo! the cow in scotland is called hairy cow or highland cattle but it is said hairy coo! i had to take a photo of such a funny looking cow. I went to UK during foot and mouth disease so it was highly illegal to step foot on a farm unless it was your farm. so being the international criminal that i am, i took a photo with the hairy coo.

The trawlerman fish and chip shopIf you are travelling to swindon and you like ice skateing, then you will find this chip shop, it is 50metres from the 'link' centre ice rink, it is a local joint with no frills and unfriendly staff, so if you want real english food with the service come here! Chilli burger, curry sause and chips!!yum yum!

English breakfast, wow, what a feast. You can hike (or bike) on 'til far into the afternoon. Bacon and eggs, beans, fried tomatoes, toast, orangejuice, saucages and more. Hope your stomach is up to it.In the afternoon there's another great English tradition: afternoon tea. No, it's not only tea and better take care of some space in your belly for that. Sandwiches, cookies, pices of deliscious pie. The English can't cook??? Well, they sure know how to eat tasty!!!

Newly Renovated. A great place to be seen and see celebrities. Parisian Brasserie meets Contemporary British Cuisine(great shellfish selection). Personal favorite - Oysters on the Half Shell (it's an Appetizer but I can have them for the Entree.)

wow! that's tough one.... i guess it depends on what you're looking for...if you want good cheap food then cafe something on walton street has a great selection of breakfasts and snacks...the jericho cafe also on walton is good for vegetarians, and they're open till eleven and licensed, always good atmosphere, plenty of interesting people and they never rush you. theres a whole selection of more upmarket restaurants as well catering for specific tastes e.g. kaz bar = moroccan, al-shami = lebanese, cafe rouge = french, bageecha = indian etc.very relaxed atmosphere, good music, extremely friendly staff, most of them are students and don't mind chatting for hours if they're not busy...and if it's a rainy day (as many are in england!) and you need some shelter, you can order a cappuccino and leaf through their magazines or newspapers for hours without them hassling you to make a move!
