in ribchester as in most roman forts is a bath house not much remains but the foundations that show you the lay out of the baths

near the childrens play area are some stone carvings which are intresting in the style of trajans coloum in roman but depicting the village life of ribchester form its roman beginings to the saxon period

take a stroll around the village ,the cottages are 18th cent built around 1700 to 1770 most small cottages are made out of local stone, some are 3 storys but small in comparison todays moden houses .the village people of old would of used hand looms in the cottages or worked the land for their living in the 18th cent. the locals today really look after their houses sadly the curse of the moden car can ruin the old village secene

you can fish the ribble at ribchester on a day ticket available form the white bull pub
roach,chub ,barbel,salmon and sea trout can all be caught here

the romans left ribchester in the 4th cent the villagers carrying on there normal lives
the present chruch that stands here replaces one that was brunt down by robert the bruce
scottish king on his raids into england
the present church dates from around 1193 and is Norman the interior is very pleasant and open at all times (please leave a small donation )
the grave yard is very intresting being very old showing the hard lives that the people lived ,dieing at a young age with many children in the familes dieing from childhood diseases that are eridecated today

in ribchester there is a small museum full of roman artifacts and findings that have been found in ribchester.
pride of place is a full facebronze cavalry parade mask(replica) that was found in a local garden by a child John Walton in 1796 and became known as the ribchester horde which can be seen to in the british museum in london.
the museum also displays military artifacts as well as domastic findings
a interactive area is available for children ,roman armour and helmets,chainmail for children to wear .

after walking around the village and the ribbleway come and rest your feet and refuel in this old inn built in 1707.the pub was also used as the local courthouse and jail one of the roooms was found to have shakles on the wall after being renovated.
the pillars outside at the doorway are roman from a temple but reused in construction of the pub,at the side of the pillers is amounting block to help you mount your horse in the 18th cent
Favorite Dish: i had a bar snack of strips of steak and onions with marmalade on a baggette with salad
wash down with rale ale pint of timothy taylors bitter
