St Kilda is small and easy to see. The abandoned village is being refurbished and worth a visit. They have a small museum that really brings home how harsh life was when the island actually had a population. They lived off the cliff birds and scratched out an existence on this isolated speck of Scotland. Now there is a UK MOD missile site there. It is small and seemed very quiet. The missile site's wives run a small souvenir shop with a surprisingly wide variety of St Kilda goods for sale. The island was "militarized" during the World Wars. The RN installed one field gun to protect the island against Hun submarines. The lonely gun is till there. It is not a place you are going to get to with ease but it was a fun visit.
