Dolls House: Fantastic Local Cuisine
Quaint little spot that serves super fresh local food. You can usually get a discounted "early" supper with a glass of ale. Have eaten there several times and every time the meal was "spot on". Will go back. GREAT little spot for lunch or dinner. Several tables are available outside if it isn't too windy or chilly.
Favorite Dish: The soup of the day and the Scottish salmon - what else! (oh yeah and the beer)
'The Central': Central St Andrews
St Andrews is not short on restaurants but if you want something simple, this centrally located pub is surprisingly good. Student hangout during term-time, popular all-year round with tourists and locals alike, friendly and helpful staff.
Favorite Dish: Extensive 'traditional', straightfoward pub-grub but better than most.
Home cooked food
This tearoom, found in the street of West Port, is family run and a reasonable place to take a break to rest from the walking that is needed to view the various sites of St Andrews. At the end of this street, you can also find The West Port, which was the main entrance to the old town and is one of the few surviving gates in Scotland.
