Mill of Mundurno: Dine in an Old Mill

    Dine in an old mill

Pleasant family restaurant with old world charm. An out of town location incorporating motel style accommodation. The restaurant caters well for children with special menus & kids drinks & provides a safe & fun outdoor playarea.

Favorite Dish: We usually stop here when shopping in Aberdeen on our way home. The food is good traditional stuff, but they have many specials, I sometimes have the tandoori chicken with mango chutney. Please note : check your table number & order & pay at the bar

T.G.I. FRiDAYS: A Taste of America

    The Bar

Good family restaurant with lots of American memorabilia including a great pictures of American greats from the music world, my favourite Elvis was smiling right behind me.
If it's your Birthday the staff will parade around the restaurant singing "Happy Birthday" complete with sparklers and a cake. On my most recent visit we were here as two families, spanning four generations, to meet for the first time and celebrate with Fraser and Debbie on the birth of their Son Adam. The staff did a great job seating twenty people at one table, serving up drinks and food for all with no one waiting very long for their own lunch.

Favorite Dish: The steak platters are a good choice served up with Jack Daniel's special BBQ sauce. I love the ribs and wings tower just perfect for sharing. The desserts are huge it is a good ideaa to order one between two cuts the calories and the cost. Drinks are expensive but free refills are offered on all soft drinks.

The Fish and Chips Shop: Supper at 3am

    by AC1 Updated Aug 19, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

After a long night out, you are down with equivalent of at least two pitches of cocktails, feeling hungry and it is real late.. McDonald, Burger Kings, etc close at 2am on Friday and Sat. You just missed them.. No worries.. There is this Fish and Chip Shop.. just round the corner on Belmont St.

Though some say when you are hungry and drunk anything will taste good, I have to say that this one is definitely very good even if you are sober. Large piece of deep fried sea bass, chips with salt and vinegar... hmmm... yummy... and they are served steamy hot.

Favorite Dish: Fish and Chips of course...

The Prince of Wales: Come in for a rest after shopping

    Prince of Wales
    4 more images

The Prince of Wales is one of the most popular bars in Aberdeen they have an extensive Bar Menu with typical pub food including good hearty homemade soup and filled rolls
The Prince of Wales boasts the longest bar in Aberdeen and its Real Ale and food is included in Egon Rooney's good pub guide. The decor is mostly dark wood paneling and has some fine old pictures and old mirrors advertising distilleries and whisky. A popular place with shoppers especially daytrippers who come by plane and ferry - grab a table if you can find one and play spot the language. During our recent Christmas Shopping trip we were back here and Santa had arrived early and given this place a new carpet with the Prince's Feathers scattered on it. It is often said this pub is haunted but I never believed this until our most recent visit - we were talking about the old photo of a young woman when out of the blue the menu fell off the table - maybe if you visit she won't turn up!!

Favorite Dish: If you are into real ales it really is the place for you with three ales featured every week. We usually only have a filled roll and cold drink but I have had their mouthwatering fish and chips which come highly recommended.

Rendezvous @ Nargile: Excellent Turkish food

    by AC1 Written Aug 14, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is one of the best restaurant in Aberdeen city area. If you are thinking that Turkish food is just another kebab shop, well you will be pleasantly surprise with Nargile. Not only that it serves very good food, the environment is of very posh settings, modern, romantic fine dining.

The price is reasonably fair for that kind of quality and settings. Definitely worth a visit if you have around 20 quids to spare per person for dinner.

Favorite Dish: Ask the staffs to recommend what is fresh from the sea today.

    Howies Aberdeen

Definitely an experience to see what the best can offer. Very good food, very traditional settings and very fine. Of course, these things do not come cheaply. But if you have the budget and looking for something really presentable and romantic, why not? Anything for love..

Favorite Dish: Any sea food offering usually turns out well here.

O'Neills: Give this place back to Ireland!!

by scottishvisitor Updated Oct 3, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Irish Pubs

The food is standard pub grub - good for a quick snack - but don't spend time here on a full meal.
The decor is meant to be old but this place is in need of a face lift - torn bar stools peeling paint...................not great.................
Beware the toilets - clean enough but sign posted in Irish - Mina- ladies & Fir - gents

Favorite Dish: A quick snack & a quick getaway!!
If your into sport you can watch Irish football on a big screen - don't really see the point in a Scottish city

Frankie & Benny's: New York & Italy combine here

by scottishvisitor Updated Oct 4, 2006

    New York Style

Aberdeen is a University town so who knows where your server will come from, but you will always receive perfect attention here. The servers are friendly and attentive, explaining menus and choices, they do a good job.
Modern and spacious, the restaurant is designed around a typical New York Dinner, there are a lot of old pictures of Italians in New York and it has a definate 1940's atmosphere

Favorite Dish: I had an Italian pasta dish & American dessert combining both counties = yummy

    Rustico: Southern Italian delight

by TracyG Written Jul 14, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is a family run restaurant and often ranks as one of the best in Aberdeen. The food is very typical of Southern Italy and the Mediterranean region and the portions are very generaous - maybe too generous, I have never once finished all of my main course! It is a very cosy restaurant and nearly every night is fully booked so book in advance.

Favorite Dish: Monkfish and king prawn skewers on linguine with basil and chilli. Also the nightly specials as they are often amazing.

Miami Beach: Miami Beach - my mistake Aberdeen actually

by scottishvisitor Updated Oct 4, 2006

    Miami Beach

Give it a miss, this place looks posh and is well advertised locally, the only good thing about this restaurant is if you book tickets for a movie at the adjacent cinema you get two for one on your main course. The food is nothing to write home about. There are lots more decent restaurants in this vicinty, so make your choice somewhere else.

Favorite Dish: NOTHING GOOD HERE YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITH MACDONALDS OR BURGER KING!!

The Monkey House: Great Pub, Great Location and Pretty Good Food Too

by saracen Written Jan 3, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Located in a former very grand banking institution in a prime area of Aberdeen's Union Street, the interior of this pub/restaurant has been very tastefully designed around the original marble features, including the tall columns up to the very high vaulted ceiling and the wood panelling.

The pub is generally busy without being roudy, and the dining area is separate from the drinking action.

The menu is typical UK pub grub - wraps, steak pie, burgers etc. All the portions are very generous and the service is friendly and informal.

Favorite Dish: The burgers are always very satisfying and tasty, with a mountain of great, homemade chips. Last time, I had a really good steak and ale pie with potatoes and veg, all very well prepared.

The Howff: Great Pub With Pretty Good Food

by saracen Written Jan 3, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Front door as seen from Union Street
    1 more image

A really traditional pub (i.e. no blaring music or flashing lights) that seems to be quite a regulars type bar, but very friendly with it. They serve a great selection of real ales and whiskies. The food is typically pub grub, with a good variety on the specials board.

Inside is down a flight of stairs from Union Street (no wheelchair access). It is warm, cosy and can get quite busy. The atmosphere is friendly and typically Scottish.

Apparently a howff is the name for an old Scottish drinking establishment.

Favorite Dish: Generous portions of all types of food - I had a great thai chicken curry. For some reason, they do not serve chips with their meals, a plus in my book.
