    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

midges are tiny but voracious feeders, and what they live on is blood!
Any kind of blood but only when they can tap into it by themselves.
Any old blood lying about on a plate will not interest them, it must be freshly tapped.
The life cycle of this creature is reportedly around 24 hours but the misery they cause in that time is way out of proportion to that

    Those Dratted Midges...

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I'm sure anyone who is interested in this area will know that during the months of July and August they will be well and truly midged. No matter what precautions you take, be it midge repellents, Avon Skin So Soft, eating marmite, garlic etc. you'll still be got. Watch out for under your watch strap, a place easily forgotten!!!

Even with the motorhome mosquito blinds and home made midge netting, they still got in, through any tiny gaps in the window seals. Best to keep lights switched off until absolutely necessary and then curtain up. Use an ordinary fly spray aerosol to get rid of any of the beasties that have defeated your defence and are lingering inside.

We also burned a pyramid coil of citronella insence which I don't actually think did any good at all.

At times we resorted to midge hats that have netting that covers your face and tuck into your neckline. Then of course, when you take these hats off inside, you are bringing midges in with you. You can't beat them.....!!!! (Im itching as I write this.)
