Victorian Bandstand

Victorian Bandstand, Nairn

 stevezero Says:  On the sea front there is a nicely restored Victorian bandstand. From here you get nice views of the beach and over the Moray Firth towards the Black Isle.

 stevezero Says:  A 17th-century doocot, or dovecote, which provided fresh meat. It on the site of an ancient motte castle, the hill of which is still visible. Montrose defeated the Covenanters nearby on 9 May 1645; a battle plan is on display. In care of National Trust For ScortlandAdmission... 

Fishertown

 stevezero Says:  Behind the dunes, the old fishermans cottages have been preserved, in an area now known as fishertown. There is a museum set amongst the cottages. 

The Harbour

The Harbour, Nairn

 stevezero Says:  Nairn has a nice protected harbour, which was formally hone to a large fishing fleet. these days it caters more for the leisure sailing market. 

The Beach

 stevezero Says:  Naturally, Nairn has a fine beach of white sand, which stretches for a good way. Parking nearby is free and it was not busy when we were there.

A seaside town

 Nairn is a lovely little town on the North Sea, not too far from Inverness. It has a very pleasant beach, though the water may be too cold for all but children and the brave or foolhardy.
