Plockton Things to Do

  • Take a walk

If you are anywhere near Plockton, take the time to visit. It isn't far from the famous Eilean Donan castle and the drive is lovely. Actually the entire area is lovely. I can imagine it becoming full of tourists in the summer, but even then there is enough wild space that you could have your peace and quiet. The Plockton Hotel even has a picnic...

  • See some highland cattle

You are bound to see the Highland cattle in various locations. These we spotted on the road leaving Plockton.

  • see the seals

if you like to see wildlife, and scenery, then hop on board the MV Argus, a boat that will take you out to see seals, and sometimes dolphins, birds etc. The boat holds 50 people, so plenty room on board, and also has a bar and a toilet on board. Spectacular scenery can be seen from the boat, from Plockton bay to the Cuillins of Skye.

Plockton Restaurants

  • Plockton hotel

On the main street, this pub/hotel has a great restaurant and is well was packed in summer.its got a pub grub menu but also some more decent fancy restaurant type meals.i had some chicken which had a great tomato sauce and potatoes.for 2 of us incl a starter to share and 2 non alcohol drinks it was £29-good value.

  • fresh seafood and fish and chips

The fish and chip shop in Plockton is where we ate for 80% of our stay the other place was the Shores great food pricey but worth it for a treat. The chip shop is a small kiosk at the centre of Plockton called The Harbour Fish Bar.We had really fresh fish real chips Freshly made Pizza with real fresh herbs. Its so nice we just couldn't resist...

  • Check the palm tree on the sign!

The food was very good but the service was amazing. We wandered through town and belatedly decided we were hungry so walked into the hotel restaurant. We were looking around trying to decide where to sit and a waitress came over and told us a tour bus was arriving momentarily but that if we could decide what we wanted pretty quickly, she...

the best way to get around plockton is by foot. The village isn't very big anyway, so it wont take you too long. But the only way of getting to Plockton is by vehicle, bike, or train. There are no bus services to Plockton, although you can get a bus service to Kyle of Lochalsh (6 miles away), and then get a train or taxi over to Plockton.

Plockton Off The Beaten Path

  • Window with a view

We headed to the Scottish Highland to locate the Eilean Donan castle. It was not well marked in the map but it should be somewhere near to the bridge crossing to Isle of Skye. The castle was really beautiful and by the time we decided to break for the night it was already past 5:00pm. By then the Tourist Information would be closed. So we wandered...

  • dont follow the yellow brick road

when walking in Plockton, dont just stick to the main roads, its a very safe village, and it's ok to go somewhere different. There are paths above the main part of the village, called the Brae, if you walk up to the Plockton Inn, and between there and the Haven hotel, there is a road you can take up, to the right which will give you more views of...
