We drove from Cruden Bay along the coast road A96 which takes you to Elgin. From here take the A9 bypassing Inverness to cross the Kessock Bridge. Turning left at the roundabout at Tore then takes you onto the A835 on the road to Ullapool. Please take careful note of the overhead road signs, they tell you well in advance of snow closures and ferry cancellations. We did notice on our frequent travels around Ross-shire the signs warned of a high risk of deer on the roads the only deer we saw were indeed close to the road but luckily not on it. The roads in Ross-shire are good two laned roads not busy at least not when we were there you can drive at your own pace with lots of off road parking at the perfect spots. I have included a link to viamichelin their maps guide you around here perfectly. Leave a Comment
