    Hudsons Bar: Updated Flares

    Hudsons Bar

Hudsons Bar is part Edinburghs newest hotel and is a great place to spend the night. Large plasma screens behind the bar dissappear into the ceiling when not required. Good selection of wines and table service. There is also a basement club that I've yet to visit but have heard good reports.

This venue was formerly a Post Office before being converted into a bar and has had a few different styles before the latest conversion with the most memorable being a really tacky 70s bar called Flares.

    Haymarket Bar: West End landmark

by clivedinburgh Updated Jan 7, 2007

The Haymarket has become my local nowadays, not in there too often but the large island bar is always well staffed by happy and courteous folk. There are lots of tables around the fringes of the bar and the large screens have on whatever live sports that they can find. There's some nice pictures of the 1990 Grand Slam that always make me smile.

    West End: RYAN'S BAR

by Pixiekatten Updated Dec 10, 2006

Sharing delicious nachos with Miss X.

Ryan’s Bar is a great bar for:
    - after work drinks
    - a good pub meal (TRY THE NACHOS!!)
    - happy hour drinks
    - coffees, it has an extensive glass fronted coffee-house
    - the sunny and warm outdoor seating area
    - students
    - hen/stag nights

Guinness is on tap along with a couple of cask ales, a good range of bottled beers, an extensive amount of whiskies and a large wine list.

Its located at the bottom of Princes Street: the West End on the corner of Hope and Queensferry Street. The outdoor seating is brilliant as you can watch the on goings on Princes Street, however it can be rather noisy… Inside its cosy too with dark wooden interiors.

    Berlin beerhouse: Beer and grooves

by Pixiekatten Written Sep 28, 2006

Looking for a fun night out in a not so crowded place? Then Berlin is perfect. Busy but just enough to make the place feel homey and good. Always seats for everyone and room at the dancefloor. Never have to wait hours to order either.

Music varies. House. Electro. Techno. Funk. Its all depends on what night it is so check local paper for updates.
    Open 10pm - 3am
Usually about £10 to get in.

Bouncers can be a bit grumpy. Try to ignore their bad manners. Its fun and games as soon as you get inside!

    Indigo Yard

Very well constructed bar/restaurant sat off Queensferry Road. From the slate stacked bar to the wall of melted wax, style was always the intention. Good food - head for the balcony area. Small patio area outside to catch the rare sunny days.

Great little bar off Queensferry Street that you can miss if not carefull. The smoke glass windows and trendy interior are great for a wee snifter and the highly experienced bar staff are able to create some truly different cocktails.

Great bar up the lane from the Indigo Yard. Well laid out and stylish with a good reputation for food. Would have written this up sooner but never knew the name of the place.

Excellent website with online menus and great pictures.

Whighams Wine Cellar: Grab an alcove

by clivedinburgh Updated Jul 1, 2006

Old wine bar given a new lease of life in recent times by opening up the back into a quality dining area. Alcoves are great for small groups to ensconce themselves in for the night.
