Baked Potato Shop: A spud you'll like!

This is without hesitation the best place in the city to get a baked potato! Even if you're not a vegetarian/vegan! It's cheap. It's a lot of food! And it's is very very yummy!

Another good thing is not only is there many fillings to choose from (and they're all good), they come in different levels of spicyness... For example you can get spicy hummous or plain. Great indeed for people (like me) who cant stand hot or spicy food!

Also depending what mood you're in there are healthy options and the not so healthy. ;) Only got three words for you on that one: butter, cheese and even more cheese! If you only like a wee bit of cheese, make sure you tell them because they do tend to put A LOT in there!

This is mainly a take-away shop but there is a table if you feel like eating in. And guests are most of the time prepared to squeeze to make more room. Do not be afraid to ask!

Favorite Dish: Plain hummous and cheese.
    Avocado, cheese and tomato.
4 bean salad and, yep: cheese! :)

Baked Potato Shop: Veggie Haggis Samosa

As the name suggests, majoring in baked potatoes, with a variety of vegetarian/vegan fillings. Also available with pittas, spanakopita and just as salads; also snacks (like the veg hag sam), cakes and drinks.

One table which about six could squeeze around, though mainly for eating on the hoof.

    Potato/pitta and filling £2.50 - £3.00, snacks/ cakes under a pound. Displays wide range of posters/flyers for music/alternative events.

Convenient for Royal Mile and Waverley Station.

Baked Potato Shop: definition of Sinful Delight

Amazingly good but devastatingly fatty, these stuffed potatoes are something you absolutely must try to complete the Scottish visit. Warning: monster-sized potatoes mean that two can easily share a portion.

Favorite Dish: Far too many fillings to try all in one trip, but I like the cheese and pineapple one a lot! Sorry no pictures, gobbled up the minute I got my hands on them!

    Baked Potato Shop: Cockburn Street

I used to live on Cockburn Street (the downward street that loops between the royal mile and waverly station) and this was our favourite place to go for a healthy takeaway. It does the biggest baked potatos I have ever seen and a huge selection of vegan / vegetarian fillings.
There are a few seats to eat in but not a lot of room so if you want a relaxing sit down you might want to go elsewhere.
It's specialities include vegetarian haggis (??), great salads, and delicious cake (try the carrot cake if you are not too fill).

Favorite Dish: The potatos - no puny potatos here - don't know where they get them so big but they do! have it plain with salt and butter or try the cheese / salad / vegetarian chilli. Also the cake is fantastic - but be warned I have a huge appetite and never managed a potato and a slice of cake in one sitting. It it is sunny take it to hunter sqaure / royal mile to eat.

Only a couple of tables if you want to sit in, but since it is OK to eat in public almost anywhere in Scotland, you can sit on a park bench or whatever. The potatoes are wonderful and with 20 or so fillings you could never have imagined - all vegetarian but guaranteed to fill you up. Veggie haggis is just one of them! :)))

Favorite Dish: Baked potato with cheese, onion and pineapple...oh, I could live on that if I had a home gym.
