Treat your tastebuds with this amazing mixture of french, north african and scottish food. Menu could be a bit tricky but the great staff is there to assist and explain anything you need to know.
Great winelist and yummy cocktails. And whatever you do - leave room for a sweet. Did anyone say cheesecake?
The interior is absolutely amazing and on weekends the lounge downstairs opens up and a DJ hits the decks.
Favorite Dish: MB is all about one thing - sharing! That's the way to get the full experience. Mussels, goats cheese springrolls, haggis with a twist, scallops, seared tuna, steak, venison.. No, I cant choose! Its all fantastic!
(Since I was there last time this restaurant/bar has changed name to Baraka. However the original Maison Bleue is still on its spot on Victoria Street. Be sure to book a table, 0131 226 1900.)
Located on Victoria Street in the heart of Old Town this is one of the busiest restaurants in Edinburgh. And it deserves to be, not only because of its perfect location but because this is a terrific place to enjoy an evening with friends, family or collegues.
Maison Bleue got an atmosphere found nowhere else in Edinburgh. You feel it as soon as you walk through the stone arches to the candle lit bar where you will be seated to enjoy a pre-dinner drink before taken through to the restaurant.
It's also much thanks to the excellent staff who makes your evening a night to remember. Tip top service! Add to that an exciting menu with top quality food which is always beautifully presented and cooked tp perfection, and you know where to book your next meal. This is a place where you just keep coming back!
(Since my photos were taken Maison Bleue has had a real facelift and is greater still!)
Favorite Dish: Menu is North African / Scottish / French .. I have tried most things on the menu and it's ALL delicious! To get full dining experience order a few dishes to share, this is NOT the traditional starter and maincourse restaurant. (Allthough you can of course but your taste buds would miss out!)
The sign outside claims to offer 'A new way of eating', and while that may be a boast too far you will certainly get one of the best meals on offer in Edinburgh.
Over recent years the menu has moved from French tapas to larger dishes mixing European and Scottish flavours to superb effect. Though the prices have gone a bit, so has the quality.
The setting is relaxed but intimate, suitable both for parties of eight or a romantic date. Highly recommended - though its great location and reputation mean that you will need to book in advance for a Friday/Saturday night table.
12-3pm and 5pm til late
Favorite Dish: The duck dishes
If you want something different, try Maison Bleue. Instead of one main course, you can eat small portion of different things.
