Watch the craftsmen, feel the atmosphere, discover the history of the UK's favorite crystal. A courtesy coach service runs from outside Acanthus bar and restaurant, Waverley Bridge, Edinburgh.

It departs on the hour. For something special, you can pre-book a VIP hands on experience.

See Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect world.
This place is great. The butterflies fly all around you and you get the chance to hold or touch some of the exotic species. There are not just butterlies though - you must see the spiders (ugh), frogs, caterpillars and scorpions.

    Visit the Edinburgh Crystal Centre
You have the chance to see a video and exhibition before you begin the wonderful tour around. Then a guide shows you just about every aspect of the glassmaking process. It's amazing to see. The glass looks so beautiful and if you do a VIP tour you can ever try glassblowing and cutting the glass yourself!

Take one of the Double Decker Bus Tours round the city.
Now, I'm not usually the sort of sucker who pays out good money to tour a city by bus, but I have to admit that this one is well worth the £££s involved. It's one of these tours where you can get on and off wherever you want throughout the day, and you pick up lots of interesting little details on the way round. I found it extremely interesting... and it gave the feet a well-deserved break.

Take one of the numerous bus tours.

For 8 pounds you can take the tour as many times as you like. Different tour guides have a different take on Edinburgh's history.
You visit Edinburgh castle of course, but the most enjoyable part was driving down the cobbled roads of the old town. Doorways are only 5ft tall, a consequence of people only being that tall a few hundred years ago, there are alleyways, wooden buildings and a charming character that makes you feel like you're actually 500 years back in time, it is just so ancient.

Pitlochry-Edradour Distillery. The Edradour Distlillery is the smallest distillery in Scotland. The Malt Whisky tastes like liquid sunlight (George B. Shaw). Visit it! It is really worth doing so. I recommend you to go on the Whisky-trail for one or two days. Here you can learn a lot about the process of whisky-making and you always have a little taste at the end of the tour. The entrance to many of the distilleries is free.

  • A night time tour through the streets of Edinburgh's Old Town and the infamous Greyfriars Cematary. The tour is filled with history- the tour guides are fantastic and fun and will scare you to death and make you laugh while teaching you about the amazing city.
