The Orkney Hotel: Locally produced gourmet

by silieputty

This restaurant offers a good selection of meals using locally produced products. There are pasta, lamb, seafood, salads, and steak on the menu. Three courses are offered (starter, entree, and dessert) and a bar is available for drinks (including a selection of wines). The atmosphere is very formal (white linen table cloth with formal table settings) and reservations are highly recommended (I went without reservations, and it was a bit odd). There is a lovely view of the hotel's private garden. The steak was huge and came with huge portions of veggies and chips (steak fries). I found the steak to be bland but good quality beef, but I am an American and am used to my steak being marinated. The starter and dessert were excellent. Service was top notch. Butterscotch and banana tart for dessert. Very tasty and arranged beautifully.
